Smash Bros Controller of choice?

The gamepad controls are utter crap. Trust me.

Anyways, I have to use a wii remote + nunchuck because I don't have money to buy any other controller right now.
I actually really like the gamepad controls, just like maybe 100 other people in the world.

I like the gamecube controller but I wanted to be wireless (sort of) so I got this: img
Close enough lol and I didn't realize the GC adapters would sell out so fast. ;(

I think the gamepad controls are actually quite good...Especially compared to the Wiimote/Nunchuck I don't have any real complaints with it.

The only real complaint that I have is that R+L are shield and RZ+LZ are grab by default. This makes not sense at all to me from a design point of view as to me it makes sense for R+RZ to be shield and L+LZ to be grab (since the buttons are on the same sides).
This is easily fixed in the 'controller set up' menu though...So it's not really much of a problem.

Wii u pro controller and GameCube because I never learned to use anything else.

Gamecube controller, for sure. Been using it since Melee and stuck with it since. I was lucky enough to grab the bundle and Gamecube controller at a local retailer yesterday.

I'd prefer the gamecube controler since it's control stick is more accurate than the 3DS circle pad. But I'll have to cope with the 3DS.

The controls I find most useful (for Smash 3DS) are:

L - Grab (which I rarely use)
R - Shield
X - Jump (never use)
A - Jump
B - Attack
Y - Special

I'd like to learn your advice on these.

Mine are pretty much the same except I use X to jump. B special and A attack. I'm pretty sure I'm on default controls with 3DS.

Though I turned of 'up jump', as that causes problems when you're trying to do certain attacks...

on the subject of 3DS, I just use defaults as is.

though I'll use both the stick and buttons to jump. stick for normal jumps, and buttons (normally x) for short hops

up being jump as well as attack input has never really caused problems for me in all my years of playing Smash, so...

I love using the Gamepad. I don't know if it's because I have big hands or what, but the joysticks under my fingers feel so natural and it's so satisfying to pull off a quick Smash with the right stick.

I use the wii remote + nunchucks because thats the first thing i learned to use. Kinda getting used to the 3ds now

When I play on the 3DS, I put shield on the Y button. My R button has been iffy ever since I played a lot of LM:DM online. It works, but I don't want to subject it to merciless dodge-rolling.

I'll get a GCN adapter w/controller when they restock. For now, I'm stuck using the Pro Controller. Which isn't bad to be honest.

GameCube, Gamepad and Pro are the best in that order. I used to like the gamepad most but loved the gamecube one after changing buttons around.
For Game Cube, I have l and r as shield, x and y as grab, b as special, a as attack and tap jump on.

I'd prefer a gamecube controller but all of the adapters are sold out. I'm currently using the Wii U gamepad.

Wii U Pro Controller, the shape is nice in my hands. I have the Smash Bros. GC Controller but I lack the adapter.

I prefer the Gamecube controller, but I can't seem to find the adapter thing anywhere! I looked everywhere on Boxing Day. For now I'm using the Wii remote, which isn't so bad.
