So I've been starting to try plot resetting - I'm not too fussy, it's just so if i get any dreamies i can make sure they're in a good place. I created a new account and found Papi's house placement. It was okay and i didn't care, so i turned it off and went onto my main character. Now he's not there, and i can't seem to find him anywhere. Was i supposed to save? And where has he gone, will he show up again another day, or will it be a different neighbour? Thanks! :)

With plot reseting its vital that you save with your new character. So you go to Isabelle, then to Nook, then to Isabelle again to receive the pass and then he game will save. Then the plot placement will be permanent.
Also if the villager was not invited by you from the campsite, other town or was a wifi move in it will indeed be another villager next time.

Yeah, if you like the plot, you have to save that character you made to "lock" it in (and then you can delete that players house when you're done)...otherwise you're just resetting again :)

Every time you plot reset & find a good house placement, you do need to save the new character first before loading up your mayor.

As for Papi, if he's not there and you invited him from another town/campsite or he's a wifi/streetpass move-in it's still going to be him. If it's a move-in from none of those, it might be a new villager next time.
He should still move in within the next few days, I think.

As everybody else said, once you find a plot placement that you like, you have to save. You need to build your house and get your TPC card from Isabelle in order to save. ^^

Okay that makes sense, thanks! So if a dreamie was to randomly move in in a bad place, is there any way for me to change their house placement without a different character showing up instead? :)

If you've asked a dreamie to move in from another town, every time you reset the villager moving in will be your dreamie and you don't have to worry. In that case, if you start up a new character and you don't like their house placement you can just reset until you like where they are!

If you're just resetting when a new villager is due to move in, it will be a different villager each time and so you'll have to keep resetting on the chance that you'll get a dreamie AND a good house placement. I did this for the first few months of having the game and it took painfully long, so I'd recommend getting your dreamie somewhere else beforehand.

Just remember if you play as your mayor before you save as your new character, the villager won't be where you want them and it's pretty stressful @.@ I hope this made sense haha I'm not great at explaining things!

Thank you so much! That makes sense, well it's good to know that if I've got some time on my hands i can reset to try and get a dreamie! :)
