Confused on how recruiting villagers works...

Hi! So I posted yesterday on the TBT Discord but didn't really get an answer to my issue. I've been to a few of the random islands using my NMTs and came across two villagers on separate days I invited to move to my island, one being Bubbles. I had a trade that required me to catalog and I didn't really want to wait the 24hrs so I TT a day ahead. I noticed that Bubbles never moved in and there wasn't a plot of any kind of memo that I took note of for her to move. How exactly does recruiting work? Are you not able to TT at all if you recruit a villager from a NMT island? I only have the two starting villagers on my island and that's it. :/

if you still only have the starting 2 then later on (i forgot how long) tom nook should give you 3 plots and 1 of them should be the villager you invited

You need to read what Nook tells you my dude.

For the 3 villagers following the 2 starting, you need to complete tasks for each plot of land. It requires you to craft 3 items that go inside, and 3 items that go outside of the plot. After you complete this task THEN they will move in. If you time traveled before completing this, Bubbles is not going to move in.

Thank you!! I honestly haven't even built the bridge yet but I just spoke to Tom Nook and he gave me then bridge kit and then housing kits after I placed my bridge. I didn't know you had to speak to him first to get the plots. I read online somewhere you can invite those villagers on islands and then just thought they kinda move themselves in like on new leaf. I think I got it all sorted out now!!

If you asked Bubbles to move in, she still should! She's just waiting for you to build her house first. ^-^
