The biggest consideration is how much has a member contributed to the community of TBT. If you're a good member for a good amount of time, Sage is a reward for that.

In that case, no we don't, why would we? They are just members who help out the forum a lot.

Being sage is about being popular for being a model member. It wasn't always like that but it is now, more or less.

However, the staff doesn't see that those that can't mod become sages, and those that can't become sages, mod.

I have to agree with Bam here. Sages get nothing closer to a normal member. Right now we are trying to fix this but the staff isn't really seeing toward our ways.

There are things you wouldn't understand. One of them is that I mis quote my own actions quite often.

If that is true then why should we get rid of sages. The sage rank has been grandfathered in to TBT, let it stay.

We can't just "get rid" of them, that wouldn't be fair to the members who are already sages. That's like taking away a present you give to someone! :gyroidsurprised:

But I will tell you that the amount of promoted Sages has/is decreased drastically. There will be other things to get instead in the future.
