And yes, of course, I time-traveled to do it. :) I did the one day forward, one day backwards method. I wanted to report back for those pondering doing it.

I normally don't TT at all. I have nothing against it, I did it heavily on NL. I chose not to TT on NH in hopes of not burning out and making the game last longer for myself.

But I got really sick of waiting and waiting for Redd to visit and I swear, most of the time he's giving me fakes. And that one portion of the museum being almost empty. So next time he was in town, I decided to do it! :)

It took me about 4 days of resetting (I played about 1-2 hours at night) to complete my art collection. (I had about 10 to start with.) It was truly a test of patience. There was a middle period where I kept getting the same fake and same real art over and over. Without some TV in the background, I would have died of boredom.

But it was weird, towards the end, even as there were times I was getting all 4 art I didn't need (fakes + genuine ones I already had), it was almost like the game wanted me to finish. It steadily started giving me the ones I needed, one at a time. For sure, it felt like fits and starts, but then a new genuine one would drop. I managed to get everything without trading. It felt like it couldn't have been true RNG because for example, getting that last one was a chance of 1/43 and it happened more quickly then I thought.

Another pattern I noticed was that the museum was filling out in a pattern. It was definitely not methodically because there was still art scattered randomly everywhere, but one section would completely finish, while the back was completely empty... and then the back would finish... then the side, etc. Maybe it was just my town, but I definitely saw a pattern.

Anyways, I post as an FYI. If I had let nature take it's course, I really think even in a year I would not have finished the art collection. That's too slow, even for me.

Congratulations on completion🤩

I am a long way from completing but will get there eventually 😊

Congratulations on completing your art section! 😊 According to the fan wiki, "there is a 20% chance for a new piece of art not yet donated to the player's Museum to spawn" during each of Redd's visits.

My S/O and I don't time-travel either, so we (mostly I -- he is much more patient than I am XD) feel your pain. We both have a theory that Redd's art may be somewhat island-locked, similar to how different colour variants of furniture are island-locked to Nook's Cranny. Anyways, it does feel very satisfying to see our art sections slowly fill up. :3

Jesus, that's depressingly low odds. Every fortnight only a 1/5 chance of a new piece of art.

Congratulations on completing the art section. I still need 8 mostly statues. I have tried time traveling back to the beginning of the day. I only do this a few times since I get too many painting that are fake or not ones I need. When Redd finally comes back I will try again.

My guess is that Nintendo defined the spawn rate, based on the assumption that the average player would visit other islands (either locally or via online play) in their process of trying to complete the art section. Personally, I've come to terms with it, and I get a bit of a dopamine rush when Redd finally shows up at my island with one piece -- or RNG forbid, multiple -- of genuine art. 🤣

I bet it looks fantastic all filled out! I'm trying to hold out on waiting a year before trying to trade or buy the ones I'm missing off of people. I've never managed to finish the museum and I would really like to. It is a bit slow. I feel like it would be better if Redd had more opportunities to show up.

Congratulations on finishing your art exhibit! I don’t even know the last time I’ve seen Redd, it’s been a minute. I have maybe max two paintings total in mine currently and no sculptures. (ಥ﹏ಥ)

Nothing worse in-game than Redd showing up with 4 fake art pieces. Granted, I still purchase a couple things, but waiting two weeks to be disappointed is anticlimactic.

Congrats! c: I just need 3 more paintings, then I'll be done. I haven't TT'd, but I have traded with my siblings and with people on this forum. I'm looking forward to finishing up. The art exhibit is my favourite exhibit! <3

Congratulations! 🎊🎊🎊

For my case, I completed it by trading with players here. (I just want to get it out of the way.) I normally still visit Redd to gather real pieces of art for decorating my house. And also, I gave some of them away. :)

congratulations!! i’ve never had the patience to farm redd and so i’m in awe of anybody who does aha. i got some artwork by myself but i got most of it, especially the statues, through trading aha; was a lil expensive as artwork costed more than it does now from what i’ve seen but at least,, i don’t have to be disappointed by redd anymore :P

Congrats! I don't have the patience to TT for Redd to show up so I'm going to purchase whatever I'm missing by the end of the year.

Congrats on completing the art museum! Honestly I think if someone didn't TT or trade for other arts, it would take 3+ years to "naturally" complete the art museum. Some of them like the Great Statue or genuine Valiant can take sooo long to ever appear. Once Redd was introduced I basically decided fairly fast that I wanted to complete it asap as the art museum is by far my favorite exhibit. :)

congrats! I've been taking my art exhibit contributions very slow - in that whenever Redd comes to my island I only ever buy art and statues to decorate my town and houses. But your post makes me want to start buying things for the museum so that I have a reason to enter the art room, and maybe even see some of my villagers looking around in there.

Yeah, some of the villager dialogue when they're looking at the artworks is brilliant!

Congrats on finishing and thanks for sharing your experience!! Maybe RNGesus really did take pity on you ;v; holy heck it must've been really tiring though, but seeing it all completed must be worth it! It's so cute having your villagers roaming around the gallery (which isn't empty hahah)

congratulations, i know how good it feels when u donate that last piece of art. For me I went the trade for art route to finish it and am slowly doing that again for my second island

congrats on completing your gallery and thanks for sharing! was an interesting read for sure c:

im so ready to have mine done, i did a lot of time travel to get pieces and aswell kept getting stuff I already had, i kinda burned myself out trying to get it all completed as i was trying to do all aspects of the museum all at the same time ;w;
ive slowed down and i am starting to concentrate on just completing the fossil exhibit (ive been SUPER SUPER unlucky with these it's excruciating) and picking up bugs i haven't caught yet if i see them and visiting redd if he is here anyway. can't wait to have it all done, but it will be sooooo worth in the end :3

Congratulations on completing the museum :D
My guess is the 20% thing is on top of the other RNG right? So it's actually a bonus?
It would make sense that you have a 20% chance to have a guaranteed real version of something you need and the rest being random?
Anyway good for you
I got impatient and decided to start trading lol
