Hey, everyone!

I am in the process of reading through the companion guide and transcribing the interesting charts and otherwise unique pieces of information that people are either uninformed about or aren't explicitly described within the game itself into a simplified format. Most of the text is copied verbatim. My notes are labelled as such and in bold, so please don't confuse them for actual book content.

I keep seeing screenshots and photographs getting passed around in thread after thread and Discord conversation after Discord conversation, but there's no single source for all of this that makes things easy if you're against pirating the book or just need to look something up quickly.

Here's the link:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-8kQMnmduhraliqCrehaAviG0qlm5BnAb73rPPOf-z0/edit?usp=sharing

At the moment, I've read the full book, but it's possible I skipped over information you'd like to see included. If you notice a glaring gap in what's been written so far, please let me know so I can amend it! I'll update this post as progress is made.

Hopefully this is helpful to someone. : )

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with our community! That's taken up a lot of your time and this will be super useful to people. Those who either don't have the book yet, or simply aren't in a position to purchase it at all. Well done!

Thank you very much!

Yes, typing up the most relevant information in a document like this is better than taking photos of the pages or scanning them. Because the internet exists and people type up guides even just based on their own discoveries, the info itself is/will be out there. But the advantage of a physical book guide like that one is to get the pretty pictures too. Your text only reference would not take away sales of the guide for people who actually would want to buy it.

I'll echo Mairen's words. I, for one, would never be able to get the guide. Thank you for helping the community, sharing the knowledge. You paid for the guide and you could decide not to do that, but you decided to help others for free, and I'll always be thankful for that.

Let me know if I can repay the favor.

I wish I could take credit for buying the book and taking the hit of uploading it to the internet, but I'm sorry to say that I was not that person and I apologize if it came off that way- I'm in the same boat with you guys of not really being able to purchase the book and I did what I thought other people in my situation would've also wanted.

I agree with DJStarstryker that the benefit of a guide like this one is very different than actually owning the book, which is why I feel a compilation like this one is warranted. Eventually this information will dissipate through common knowledge and wikis and the guide I made won't be needed anymore. :)

You still took your time to go through the guide and write the doc, added your notes, so it's not like you didn't deserve credit for that!

"The museum is built and a meteor shower is scheduled"
Is this really correct for Celeste? I've had her without meteor showers plenty of times.

It's what the guide says, but whether or not it's correct I can't say. My experience mirrors yours. I'll add a comment to touch on that!

Also- thanks to everyone for the supportive comments! I'm looking forward to finishing this up. Gotta get some school stuff out of the way, so speak to you all again in a bit.

The campsite chances part is interesting, since so many of us have it empty most of the time.

Thanks for writing all this up!

Honestly, it makes sense. It says 6+ days, 20%. If you look at it from the other way, that means if it's been 6+ days since the last camper, there's a 80% chance your campsite will still be empty the next day.

It also means that inviting amiibos to your campsite will probably count against you for that day count. New Leaf let you have campers multiple days in a row, but this game does not according to the guide. Sounds like you need it to be at least 3 days since the last camper left to even have a tiny chance. And, again, your very best chances (at 6+ empty days) means you will have it empty 80% of the time.

I think Nintendo needs to change these percentage chances. :(

Chapter 4 has been added.

5 has been added. It is mostly the DIY recipe database.

thanks so much for this!

do we know if after 190 trees is when your villagers start complaining about them? i didn’t think I had THAT many but they think it’s too rural!

@aibo I noticed that in the document you mentioned that you wouldn't be adding furniture information as that's already available in nookplaza. Does this also apply to accessories? I was hoping that there would be more available in the guide, seeing as I had seen a collage a bodybuilder cosplayer (Drefan) that I follow on Twitter posted a few days after the game's release where his character had a particular beard I haven't seen before.

If the number of accessories that Nookplaza has in their database really is the current number available, then I'm disappointed to learn that the beard was nothing more than an elaborate image edit.

We're here. I read through the full book and we've reached the (temporary) end. There are absolutely gaps, but for now, I'm worn out and I think this covers most questions people might have about the book.

190 trees is the maximum for the bonus, but I don't remember reading that more than 190 makes you lose points- I don't think so, given that it's not explicitly stated or listed in the clutter category.
Are they for sure referring to trees, or are they more referring to your development points (not enough furniture/diys/upgrades?)

This applies to furniture, clothing... anything with more than 30 cells in a spreadsheet, essentially, that exits the realm of "quick, handy information" and enters the realm of "becoming a database". It's just not plausible nor worth the time when that kind of time would be better spent inputting information directly into places like nookplaza.

I think nookplaza is fairly complete. If it isn't, definetly reach out to them.

I'd like to know if the orange end table counts as yellow for the feng shui.
Feng shui colors are directly defined by the "system" colors of furniture items (the two most common in most cases, according to the guide) so if yellow isn't present in the item, it probably doesn't count towards feng shui.

Thanks for the clarification. I understand that those kinds of items would be too much of a hassle to transcribe (and that this isn't supposed to become a new database in the first place).

I don't have a full catalog of items in-game yet, so I wouldn't be able to say for sure whether they have everything or not. I do agree that their database is one of the most complete ones I've seen (especially with all the item variants being available on it); I've been on there daily checking whether the number of accessories has gone up, yet it's remained the same. By this point, I'm willing to believe that (as previously stated) the beard item from the cosplayer's collage was nothing more than an image edit. Which is really disappointing to me as I was hoping there would be more facial hair/beard items (unique or variations) in the base game.

Regardless, thanks again for taking the time to reply to my post and please take as long as to you need to rest. :)

Someone on youtube says the cardboard boxes count as yellow.

I hope you find the beard of your dreams in AC. :)

I can't confirm nor deny this, at least right now. They were categorized as brown in earlier games, but maybe that change. I'll try to check once I have a free minute.

Someone else has confirmed this, it should toward the back.
