Can someone please explain to me this fascination people seem to have with Coco, the possessed doll?

She is a starter in my new town, and her appearance combined with her house is pure nightmare fuel, I swear. I am trying to be nice and give her a chance, though, but she is just SO creepy. She's literally a haniwa brought to life....That being said, I am debating keeping her as a villager in Haven because I've decided the theme of my town is just to be straight up weird and she definitely ups the weird factor.

What are your thoughts on Coco?

Villagers with unique designs are often loved in the community. Coco is pretty much a bunny gyroid, and people think it's neat.


However, I personally do no like her and find her extremely creepy considering what a gyroid *actually* is IRL. *shudders*

I personally love Coco and think she's great! Since I thought she just looked like a coconut before I realized that she looks like a gyroid, I haven't really found her that creepy. Her design and house do have kind of unsettling implications though so I completely understand why people find her creepy. I think she looks strange and that's what I like about her! The normal personality is cute too.

I remember having her when I first started w acnl but the only good thing she ever did was she gave me a kaki. that's abt it.

some animals just get the hype they don't really deserve. I kinda liked her creepy look tho xD

Coco has a lot of speculation going around her that she’s a dead villager, but it’s not confirmed.
I do have my canon lore about her that she is a living gyroid who wishes to be a real animal.

Honestly, this villager is one of those villagers with one of the biggest potential lore, and people love her for that.

She has a lot of lore surrounding her, like others have stated. So she has that interest factor to her, y?know?
She?s also a normal personality, so I feel like people are much more inclined to put up with her unsettling appearance and house, whereas if she were a snooty/peppy/uchi/etc, I feel like people would be much more put off by her. But because she?s a sweetheart people love her.
I personally am half and half with her, i think she?s so cute and i love that she has that macabre factor to her, but also, she terrifies me. I don?t like gyroids, and since she looks so similar, it freaks me out. I?d probably never personally have her in my town, so I?ll just admire/cower from her at a distance

She camped in my town one day and I was greeted to her creepy gyroid 'going to devour your soul' gaze while KK Scary was playing. The fact that when I talked to her, she said something along the lines of 'assimilating with the locals' was enough for me.

Coco was a starter in the very first AC game on Game Cube. I was horrified. I knew all the cute villagers and I was like, "What did I do wrong to get this abomination?" Those thoughts lasted until she said her first words to me and her kindness and affection just poured through her eyeless voids (lol) and I have been in love with her since. She has always been in my towns and always will be. I can't get along without her. As a matter of fact, my town, Harvest is dedicated to Coco. I made it just for her and she lives beside me as the Shadow Mayor. My daughter and I have a running joke that Coco is always preparing for some dark pagan ritual she calls "The Harvest." We don't know what it is and she never alludes to the particulars, but she's always getting ready for it. So therefore, my town of Harvest. I can't say you'll fall in love with Coco like many of us did and if you don't, that's fine. She's not for everyone. But she IS for me Have a fantastic day everyone!

I didn't like Coco the first time I saw her shortly after starting to play ACNL but now that I've seen pretty much every villager and their respective houses,I don't think she's the ugliest villager and Felyne's house makes Coco's place look relatively tame.I've read about gyroids being based on haniwa but I don't find that to be particularly creepy.It's funny but we have villagers in our towns that are alligators,wolves,lions,tigers and bears(oh,my!).....animals that have been known to kill and eat people but that doesn't seem to bother anyone.I don't mean to belittle other people's feelings on this subject but to me Coco is just a normal bunny.She lives in my town with Beardo,Naomi and Sprocket and I think she looks rather nice by comparison.

like pietro, she's often either a persons #1 most loved villager or their absolute nightmare x) on one hand i can absolutely understand why some people find her so creepy, but the juxtaposition of her sweet personality and creepy face is just ridiculously endearing to me, which is why she lands a spot on my dreamies list every time

she's most definitely based off haniwa, seems as her japanese name is "yayoi", referencing the period in japan where those statues originate from... that's just so cool to me !! she's one of the rare villagers that has a little more depth to her design ~

i love her! imo, the coolest villagers are the one-of-a-kind ones. she's pretty spooky so i can see why others don't like her, but she's my favourite bunny villager and i was rly sad when she moved :c

Probably because of her unique designs. Same with Marshal and Julian. I DON'T FRIGGIN' GET IT! XDD
I don't have anything against Marshal or Julian or Coco or any of them, but some people have very weird obsessions.
