I've been there once, and there was a weird girl who wanted to trade clothing with me. If you go, just don't wear anything expensive or rare, like crowns and Gracie clothing, 'cause people will covet them.
BUT you may want to be careful of younger kids, experiences with them usually aren't so good. Bell begging and weird romance stuff is the most common issue.
Glad I'm getting close to teenage-dom :I I'm the only one in my class not interested in boys and romance (seriously, boys are called soulmates, and it's kinda creepy).
Just a quick tip, if you come across somebody who is trolling you/begging money or clothing, then don't talk to them. It's best to keep quiet instead of saying something and see them get mad. I've never come across any trolls in Club Tortimer, but I hope this helps.
Haha, I go to Club Tortimer almost everyday, and I can assure you it won't really be worth the medals (and 1k bells) to go there everytime. There's nice people there, but the beggars and trolls are annoying. Like everyone said, don't speak and stay quiet. Unlike me, its better if you just stay quiet and let the trolls think you're not worth it, so they get bored and leave. And yeah, don't bring expensive stuff. People will trap you if you don't give them you're crown. If they do, just flip the WiFi switch (or the power button if you use the New 3DS) and always save before going to the island.
I go to club tortimer all the time, and sometimes I run into rude people or people begging for bells, but for the most part, people either want to talk, do tours and exchange fcs or they want to mind their own business and catch stuff. It's worth the higher chance of finding rare island items like the sand castle, sea globe, sanshin, different colored wetsuits, etc.
If you want to be extra cautious, check everyone's tpc when you get to the island. If the quote on their tpc says something like "give me money please", which I've seen a few times, leave and find another island, or go on a tour and leave them behind because they're likely to constantly beg you for money. You might also consider leaving vanity items at home like gold roses, crowns (though I wear both lol), and other rare items/ flowers. You can also blacklist people and prevent yourself from ever running into them again.
Just remember that the most annoying people on the island are more than likely kids, so don't cuss them out or anything xD
I've done it about 10 times and at least half of them were beggers. Like 2 were very nice, the others were afk. Other people have had better experiences though.
I don't go a lot, because the islands are always ravaged by the time I'm there. The people I go with either don't speak English, or don't talk at all. I enjoy going sometimes with people who don't beg, but other times it's bad.
