I recently bought the Club Tortimer application. I just want to know how nice the community is.

I'd say be very cautious with the Club Tortimor community, definitely. Remember that anyone can go on there, including creeps, trolls, little kids, adults, or just genuine nice people.

There have been many stories about bad CT experiences, including bell beggers, people who ask for your age/personal info, trolls who trap you at the island, kids who scare your bugs/fish away, or just people calling you horrible names, you name it lol. I myself have actually gotten trolled, begged for bells or just hit on by people who I didn't even know. People actually do that on this game, sadly. Don't worry though, not everybody on CT is bad! I have actually met a nice Japanese girl that I'm friends with to this day C:

Just be cautious if you're looking for CT only items or just wanting to hang out with somebody ^^

In my experience, I've rarely met any trolls or people begging for money, etc. Most of the people I've met were really chill and nice to talk to. But you'll most likely meet 9-13 year olds flirting with you and it can get really weird and awkward. Most of the trolls I met were really bad at being trolls and only did it because they were bored. Most of the people who go on CT are around 9-16 years old. The youngest person I met was a 6 year old and the oldest was around 54 years old. I think overall the people that go there are nice.

Be careful.
People will be rude (some people) or try to trap you there, but sometimes I will go there for fun!

Just remember to always be polite and dont flame the fire n.n

As others have already said, be careful and very cautious. You don't know who'll be on the island with you, and how they'll behave.

After reading that thread it seems that most of time people have a good experience with a Japanese player.

Japanese players are quite nice, not really sure why. I have the best experiences with them as well, especially since I became friends with one after going on CT one time.

Just, as the others have stated, please be cautious. If you plan on going to CT to get anything you don't want to lose (exclusive CT items, beetle hunting, etc), I HIGHLY recommend you "lock" the island first... Go on a tour (alone) immediately upon arriving, and as soon as you get back, open another tour, but don't sit down. That'll "lock" the island, and no one will be able to arrive, and, provided you went alone on your previous tour, you should have the island free to yourself. That's when I would do my shopping, and fishing/diving/hunting. Then, after everything is safe inside your basket and you feel like being social, you could cancel the tour and allow people to come to the island. The game saves each time someone comes or goes, so your items will be safe in case you have to dc or someone else flips the switch. Hope that helps! Good luck, have fun, and be careful! :)

hint: if you're in america, STICK TO THE INTERNATIONAL ISLAND.

Why? I'd rather not go to an island with a bunch of Japanese people and have no idea what they're saying.

I really don't see the point in this. When you buy an item on the island, it goes straight in the basket anyway. Not only that, but it usually takes a minute before someone else shows up on the island. There's no reason to fish/dive/hunt on CT if you're planning on keeping the fish and bugs, you should do that on your own island so you won't have to worry about someone disconnecting. What's the point of going to CT if you don't want anyone else there with you?

I guess they said that because there are items that can only be obtained by going to CT instead of your own island. And after getting those items, maybe they want to fish or hunt for beetles so they make up for what they have lost.

In my experience, I haven't had any problem. There are some who go afk and leave their character looking at their inventory, so you can't leave the island, but I haven't been insulted or begged bells or any of the sort. Plus, what I normally do is check whether there are hibiscus (in case there aren't on my island) and then just leave, so they don't have time to arrive to the island.

Different times of day, for one. If you are playing in the morning where you live, but want to beetle hunt without adjusting your town's time, then all you can do is go to CT. Also, while it is true items you purchase go straight to your basket when you purchase them, it doesn't automatically save them and if someone else is already on that island when you get there, they could flip the switch or "hold you hostage" before you are able to leave and save a possible rare and hard to find item, in which you would be out of luck and lose that item until you are able to find it again, however long that may be. That is the point for me.

I would definitely say that International island is way better. Not only is it Japan, but I once met a girl from Spain who was the same age as me and super nice! We spent a lot of time talking and found out we had a lot in common too!

I've had people trap me before, but this was like back when the game first came out. These days you don't really meet people that are only there to be trolls. The main problem I've found is being matched with someone that doesn't speak the same language, but even so, you can still play the tours quite easily. I have come across a few rude people recently, the other day I was 3 other girls on an island, and we were arranging to add each others fc's (they were all quite nice) and I asked if they wanted to go to somebodies town and one of the girls just said no, and then asked the other two to come to her town and refused to add me. I should note that she singled me out literally because I was dressed as Princess Zelda and she didn't like the game

I've actually had a lot of fun there, performing glitches to get on top of the hut and stuff.

My character is a boy and I like to wear dresses a lot, and one time I was on CT and someone questioned me about it since I'm a guy, and when I told him that it makes me happy, he didn't have anything more to say about it. We need more kids like that in the world, you know.

Like everyone else has said, some people are nice and some are not. I've never had any problems, but I usually just use CT for beetle hunting so I ignore the other people there anyway.
Obviously you don't have to follow anyone's suggestions. Just go on CT and decide for yourself if you like it or not lol
The worst that can happen is people are annoying, or someone flips the wifi switch and you lose an item/bug/fish because it didn't save. Not too big a deal overall.
You can also meet some nice people, so if you're looking to be social it can be pretty fun
