Okay, so I decided I want to completely redo Chief's house in new leaf because it's a mess right now and I just want to make him more personalised to me. But I have no idea what furniture would suit him! If you guys could leave suggestions to what set would suit his house or what furniture I should put in it, that'd be lovely! But I also have another question: can you change villagers wallpaper and flooring? or is that permanent?

Wallpaper and floors are permanent. Some few furniture items may also be permanent I think. It's always a random few items that never seem to get swapped out or sold, and the animals refuse to sell them to you when visiting and they don't ask you to find them a replacement item. Don't take my word on that last part, but I'm assuming, because I've just never been able to replace certain items.

Yeah i've found the same thing, sometimes there's just items they'll never sell but i'm hoping to be able to replace atleast some of his furniture in his house, since it's really bothering me. He's become so unoriginal it's unreal. Not that i'd care, but honestly what in the world is he doing with Marshal's shirt in his house? Like where'd he even get that from, honestly.

I did that to change the wallpaper to something off his list but it didn't work so I'd assume you can't change that sort of thing. I was trying to set his house out in exotic but nothing went well with that paper and he would either sell bits of it or he would give it away to me by force basically, since I never had chance to say no it's not easy changing their houses is it

I change my villagers houses in accordance to my town theme, so maybe that could be an option?

His wallpaper and flooring is awful. Honestly, I love him and all but I gotta be honest. LOL, I remember in wild world how easy it used to be to replace their furniture and wallpaper. You just mailed it to them, and they'd replace it within a day. or put it in the recycling bin Thing is though my town's themed on the colour white, so the only sets I can really use is the minimalist and I think that'd make his house look worse tbh. cx

or you could do the ranch series, customized white.
maybe even alpine customized beige... kinda sort of near white (lol not really, but still natural looking) & also goes with chief's color.
I think the ranch series might look good tbh! I don't know about the minimalist set but I think i'm going to give it a go, now that I think about it, it'd probably stand out against his wallpaper but in a good way. Or even the alpine could look really good although it'll be beige it gives those wild west vibes. Thanks for the ideas though, they're very helpful!

I would recommend using customised alpine furniture in his house, in my village I gave him some that had dark wood and modern pattered fabric and I think it works really well. The beige could work, although I personally haven't tried it so I can't guarantee it. The only other thing I would recommend is good lighting, the darkness does not help that floor, it only makes it worse.
I agree though, dark against dark will just make it look even more horrible. I understand Nintendo are going for a manly look with him but c'mon that carpet nintendo? his carpet is just about surviving. As in modern are you referring to the black and white checkered shirt? because that really could work! I tried making his house modern before in wild world except it worked out much better, because he doesn't have hideous wallpaper and carpet. It sounds like it could work really well though, Chief's house can look is pretty nice when you pair him with the modern furniture so hopefully it looks even better if I refurbish the alpine. I think i'm going to try that out. Thanks!
I was actually referring to the "modern" pattern that cyrus recommends when customising any alpine furniture, but I can't deny that the checkered pattern sounds like an amazing idea! I might even try that myself at some point.

When I had Chief, I gave him the modern set. I think the colours of that set compliment the wall and floor quite well.
Ah right I see! feel free to try it, i'll be trying it later today once I order some alpine stuff from my catalog.
