Cherry Trees

My city symbol is the cherry because it's the native fruit, I want to plant some trees near the train station but I want when to turn into cherry blossom trees on spring, so here's my question: For the cherry blossoms to bloom, it needs to be a cherry tree or a sapling tree? Is it random?

Almost positive it's just non-fruit, non-piney trees that turn pink in the Spring... I just say that because I watched a vid where it was Spring and the cherry trees were still green.

Pretty sure it's this too. Cherry Blossom trees are not Cherry trees.
