i recently got very impatient and ended up duping a lot of flowers to cover some area. i also bought millions of bells from the forums here. the guilt is hitting me now, and i'm wondering if i should try resetting my other town and leaving this one alone for awhile. i have put a ton of work into this town, though, and i know how frustrating it would be to get to this point again, especially legitimately. should i do it, or just power through and keep going with my partially-hacked town? i love how it looks and where im going with it, the guilt is just overwhelming me right now.

Do a give-away or some kind acts on here to even out the guilt? And just decide to not do anymore and keep going with this town. Sounds like you're going to regret resetting it. Just do some good with it.

According to the TBT rules, unless you are posting about buying, trading, selling, or giving away hacked items, I wouldn't worry about it.

It's perfectly fine if it doesn't even affect other players IMO.

I don't see how buying bells is a problem either.

its mostly just because i feel that i might get bored quicker without having earned everything? but i'm also very impatient haha so its hard to find balance

Well you might get bored quicker if you try to reset and restore everything back to where you like it. It's basically doing the same thing over again, but slower if your don't TT or buy bells. I would suggest keep going.

i dont see how its cheating if you got the the flowers/bells legitimately, duping and buying bells with tbt doesnt really count as cheating

You shouldn't feel guilty, and I personally don't consider this "cheating." You exploited a glitch for your own gain. It's not like you're selling the items for 10000% more than they're worth on the forums. You should feel guilty if you did something like that, but this? Nah.

Besides, even taking these shortcuts doesn't suddenly make the game boring, imo. I bought enough bells to get me the tycoon bell saver badge, and I'm certainly not bored just because I don't have to worry about beetle hunting or whatever anymore. It leaves me more time to focus on the things I enjoy -- landscaping, building pwps, decorating my homes, etc. Paying off all of Nook's loans and being able to buy items on a whim is a great feeling!

I would suggest that you continue working on your town and try to stop feeling bad about it. I can understand if you still want to refrain from exploiting glitches in the future, but you can acknowledge that you tried something, didn't like it, and move on. :)

this was very comforting, ty!!

Great advice from moonbunny.

I would also add that it doesn't sound like you did anything permanent. So while I totally agree that you didn't do anything actually "bad," and that you shouldn't have to feel guilty, if you find that you've lost some of the joy of the game by opting out of the slow path, why not just get rid of that stuff? Hold a giveaway and get rid of the bells and flowers until you're back where you started, before the duping. Not that you have to do that, of course – just thought I'd throw that out there in case you want to consider it.
