So after a few tries, I came up with an idea which I want to know if it's reliable.
If you mail, or trade/make the villager buy a shirt, it sometimes go to their house, or sometimes they put the old one for display in their house.
But I noticed in my town that, despite them doing the 'clothes fever' (when a certain shirt 'spreads' to almost all vilagers), when one of my originals changed the shirt too, the old one wasn't displayed in their house.
So I decided to make a test - I mailed ALL the villagers , despite this one, the shirt I wanted it to wear.
Then after a few tries, all villagers despite that one were wearing that shirt - and after a half hour, this villager talked to another and changed their clothes finally YAY
BUT
I can't see their house atm.
My question is, if anyone know if the old shirt has a chance of being displayed in their house like when you send them clothes, or if the old one just 'vanish' as it was a trade between villagers?

Yeah beau wanted me to give Apollo a present, when I gave it to Apollo it was a heart tee, he put it on, it looks hideous on him

I dont know the answer to your question but the only method i know of to make the villager wear what you want them to wear is to send like 5 same shirts to them via mail. And yes, there is a high likelihood of ruining their house since they may display it. (not all 5... Usually only 1). Only once in a while will this method not work. Most of the time, they end up wearing what you send them

my villager tia changed out of her normal shirt through a villager chat, it's now in her house.

spam letters with the clothes you want them to wear then when they decide to wear it, spam letters with furniture you want in their haus?

Anytime i mail them shirts they display them instead of wearing them lol so i have no idea

It might just be a random thing ya know?

It's not a perfect method sadly as they arrange the furniture randomly and not according to the original position. Literally a hell to make them put everything in their right position :(

according to my tests, they will only display a single piece of each shirt in their house. so, the 2nd time you mail them it, they'll either use it for trade or wear it. is a matter of keep trying.
Same for making them ping you to ask to buy the cloth - they may use it right away but then they'll display the old one in their house.

But as I don't want them at all to display it in their house, I was wondering about the villagers 'shirt spread' as method. So far, apparently, it works sometimes, and much more successful than the other methods :)

Send the villager a letter with the shirt you want him/her to wear, wait for him/her to invite you and buy the old shirt, then send him/her the same furniture that is gone. I do this all the time and it works for me :) the furniture will be displayed in the right place this way .

That seems way easier; although it might take a while to make the villager invite you to their house, i'll definitely give it a try! :)

Ohhh i see. Well either way you could always get them to let you comeover and buy it back? Tedious process but it'll give you something to do haha.

Yes :) sometimes it takes a while before they invite me but it's the only way I know to be sure that the furniture will stay in the original position. I'm glad I could help :)
