Changing villagers clothes/reverting them to default?

When you ask Isabelle to talk to your villagers about their clothes, I know they get put back in their default outfit, but do they still have any clothes they were given before?

For example, I got Katt from someone else and they gave her a TON of clothes, but I don't want Katt to wear any of them, so I asked Isabelle to talk to her about her clothes. Will all the clothes she was given be removed? or just what she was wearing at the moment?

Also, is there a certain point where villagers will stop wearing their default outfit after giving them enough clothes? Just curious about this one because I have Ruby and I love her but her bunny t-shirt is kinda tacky to me LOL

sadly complaining to isabelle about a villagers clothes only removes it temporarily and the villager just starts wearing it again later on. but if you give your villager enough clothes they eventually will start giving/selling you their older clothes.

also villagers will always where their default clothes at some point in between any clothes given to them

Aw really? I guess I'm about to spoil Katt with a bunch of clothes until she stops wearing her old ones lol

good luck lol my audie has a similar problem in which she had 2 prior owners that both gave her a lot of stuff so ive been slowly replacing them

Ohh, this is super helpful! My Pierce has a pair of heart sunglasses from his previous owner, and I'd really like to get rid of them. He offered to sell them to me earlier, but I thought it was just a coincidence - not the actual pair from his wardrobe. I declined, and he said that he would sell them to Raymond instead (hopefully he doesn't.. haha). Now I know to watch for this next time

Yeah unfortunately talking to Isabelle doesn't help I'd just gift her a ton of clothes to rotate some of them out so she wears what you want her to wear!
