Changing the default lazy house for the villager's one.

Hi! Im trying to get Sherb original house, not the default lazy one, has anyone tried with someone to hold him and then invite him back? Will his house be the original one or will it stay default?

The house changes when they move! So once the person who is holding him takes him his house will change to the house he normally gets and not the default house. So when he moves to your island itll be his own home.

i can second that! i just got a villager from someone that clearly had one of the default boring houses for him but when he got to my town it changed and became the house he was actually supposed to have.

So it seems like I will need to trade three villagers (Felicity, Phoebe and Megan) away and then in... It seems easier/more feasible than trying to make them change their interior decoration by gifting them the items they should have...

Honesty, I dont know what the devs were thinking when they added that mechanic... Not the smartest move they've made.

Right?? Such a stupid design on their part. I've had the game since it came out and my OGs are still using sleeping bags the rest of them could all have such cute and unique interiors but instead they're stuck with the basic wooden furniture. Very disappointing.

Yeah I second that, I don't understand why there isn't a more simple way to upgrade their houses... Even if it costs bells I don't know, but first villagers being stuck with boring house is a very odd choice.
