Changing 3ds console?

So today I finally got an XL, I put in todays date when setting it up. My ac game cartridge is not on the correct date, it's on September 16th 2012. I put the game in and when it goes to the menu with Isabelle it says it's April 9th 2015? Not the date I entered in the ds at all? Can someone help me fix this issue I really don't want to ruin my town or lose any villagers should I just change the date with Isabelle to the date I had in the game (sept16,2012)?

I'm not sure why the date changed so drastically, but yes just change the date with Isabelle back to where you had it and all should be fine

This happens when your game is opened on a 3DS with a different date. It's weird, but normal.

Yeah just change it back to where it was before with Isabelle! It will be normal like nothing happened

You can probably also change the date on the DS itself, I never use isabelle when changing date/time

Yeah, just change the date back. I've noticed this happens with me too sometime if I swap the cartridge between systems.
