I've been playing since launch and I've only had 2 announced meteor showers with Celeste. I've had Celeste show up with an unannounced light meteor shower two times as well. During July I had about 4 light meteor showers without Celeste. The light ones in July only lasted about an hour and were very late at night (Midnight EST/EDT). How often do you get announced meteor showers? How often do you get Celeste and a light meteor shower? I feel like I've gotten very few meteor showers at all and was wondering how often other players were getting them. Thanks!

Here's a link to my 'weather seed', the yearly overview shows how often I get light and heavy showers each month: https://wuffs.org/acnh/weatherTest/?v1&Poveglia&1002636705&N.

If there is more than 1 shower each week, Celeste will only show up on 1 of those days, favouring heavy showers over lighter ones. Celeste also won't be there when K.K. is giving his concerts.

There's definitely some variance in how many showers people get: I've heard there's two weather seeds out there that have no heavy meteor showers at all in all of 2020. Imagine getting your game to escape all the bad stuff happening this year, only to have the bad luck of encountering one of those two weather seeds!

I've heard of MeteoNook and have even gone on there. My problem is I keep forgetting to keep track of my weather and haven't been able to get me seed yet. I think I'm in the seed that doesn't get many meteor showers.

I've only ever had one announced shower and I've played everyday since I got the game in early April. Some of my friends get them very frequently, and others like us almost get none at all. I occasionally get light showers but they usually only last a few minutes at a time. Celeste comes regularly but rarely has showers at the times I play. I probably get them super late when I don't play. In any case, I've only ever had one shower announcement, which always felt odd to me. Hopefully 2021 brings better weather!

I've tried to figure out my weather seed but that honestly doesn't work all the time. I only input data (and lots of it) that I was 100% sure of and it still couldn't find my seed. After weeks of doing that I gave up. I'm almost of the impression that it doesn't matter if you're on a seed that has almost now showers. I figured why confirm what I already know, right?

I’ve had 2 announced heavy showers and 2 unannounced heavy showers. I believe I’ve had celeste for the two announced and one of the unannounced but did not keep track. I do have scattering of light showers once in a while but Celeste doesn’t always show up for those from what I noticed. I too can’t keep track of weather so I don’t have my weather seed. I also find it fun to be surprised :)

Well the nice thing about MeteoNook is that you don't really need consecutive days to find a weather seed, so perhaps you can keep a tab open and fill in a few hours once you're remembering :)

I'm sorry to hear MeteoNook isn't working that great for you :( It certainly was a chore to find my seed as well, I found that it works best to use current data from a few weeks (I think I did around two weeks of putting in some data each hour until MeteoNook was giving only 1 possibility for that day). But now that I have it, I find that I notice the light showers a lot more, because I make sure I'm actually playing on those nights after 7PM, if only to find and speak to Celeste... Just to say, it might prove you wrong instead of confirm ;)

I'm sorry you seem to be in the same boat with meteor showers. I've seen other people get them much more often.

I wrote down my weather for a few hours a day for about a week. I even had a rainbow that week. I kept it up for another week and then got busy and forgot. I'm not sure if I want to try keeping track again. I feel like you do. I already know I'm not getting many meteor showers.

I'm sorry you're not getting many showers either. I like being surprised as well but when I kept seeing people having meteor showers and/or Celeste I tried to keep track of my weather to find my seed.

Celeste has been off for me a lot. I really don’t know when she’s gonna appear and when she’s not, because even when it’s announced, sometimes I’ll be looking all over my island and still not being able to find her xD. I just kind of farm fragments instead. I’m just glad I have all the DIYs I want from her—the rest are just bonuses. 😆

Oh—and I get announced showers about once a month? Kinda sucks, but eh. I don’t keep track of my unannounced or light showers. :u

I got the game at the end of May had one unannounced meteor shower on May 31 before I even had Isabelle / the upgraded residents services, so I think in that circumstance it will always be unannounced? Then I had one announced shower in July. According to MeteoNook that was truly all the heavy meteor showers that happened so I didn't miss any, it's just that my island hasn't been having them.

As for Celeste I can't figure out her patterns. I know she can't show up more than once a week, but I thought she would always show up once per week if you had days with clear skys / a few sparse shooting stars. However it seems like I actually only run in to her like once every two weeks even when I have lots of Celeste-appropriate weather.

I was always under the impression Celeste showing up and announced meteor showers had no correlation. Celeste just seems to show up on random clear nights as she pleases (and yeah not when K.K.'s here), and I don't question that or think it's a bug or anything. We (apparently only some of us) could definitely stand to have announced meteor showers a bit more frequently, though - I could probably count on one hand how many times I've had them, probably not much more often than you.

I don't see it as a problem so much as an oddity, since we do still have some shooting stars on almost any given clear night.

It took me a looong time to find my weather seed with meteonook. Turned out that a rainbow I recorded was actually a double rainbow. I recommend taking your weather observation on the hour. If you have a light meteor shower, record the hour and minute of any shooting stars you see. That’s what finally found it for me (and taking out almost everything else except for a heavy shower the previous week).
