I was really surprised today that I'd caught my first giant isopod with no trouble at all. It helped that it was in the corner but I just swam up to it holding a, not pressing, and didn't even dive that accurately! I think they only swim away if you're pressing a.
Which is good because I don't have a friend to dinner with, haha.

Lmao that's a great idea xD I usually just chase them forever until it reaches the netting and has to backtrack right into my clutches!! Muahahaha!!
The method I've been using is to not press the "A" button to swim, instead just floating quietly over, then diving right on top. It's SO MUCH EASIER than chasing them all around the island! ...Which is how I caught my first Gigas Giant Clam

Really? I've noticed they still run at first (seems they take a minute to calm down, like scorpions or tarantulas but less scary) but they eventually do calm down, and then you can float over.
But maybe it doesn't always work? Or not on everyone? I've only had to use it the one time myself.

Wait, they no longer escape the ropes? In NL they did and I'd be mashing A so hard I began to sweat, only to have them immediately swim over towards the netting and cross it, leaving me angrily shaking my fist.

Tysm I only need the vampire squid and horseshoe crab. Idk if they’re fast but you can help if you want. Vampire squid should show up the next hour.I'll help you catch em. I should be free all day tomorrow

Yeah they finally can't escape! I was just as surprised as you when I found out. It's the best thing about diving. You can literally chase them all around the island, and I don't think they disappear (??) I haven't seen one get away and disappear yet so idk. It just seems like they're trapped in with you until you catch them or you give up and leave haha
