Catalog/Touch n Go explanation please

I'm new to AC with NH I'm addicted but obviously still need to learn a lot! I'd love to get some bathroom & kitchen items and a large wooden bookcase that Norma has in her house. When doing catalog, if I 'trade' with someone does the item need to be placed so it's seen as an item on the screen, or can it be dropped and therefore they can just pick up & drop the leaf?

Welcome to AC! To catalog (have the item added into your Nook station for you to buy in the future), you just have to pick up the item into your inventory and then drop the item back onto the floor. If the item is placed, the item cannot be picked up thus it can't be catalogued. It has to be dropped. Hope that helps!
