About a year ago, Julian moved in over one of my favorite spots in town. It was pretty disappointing especially because I was literally one PWP from completing my town. Anyway, I didn't sweat it too much because I figured he would move out just like all the other pesky villagers. Weeks went by and Julian never asked to move or even ping me. Its been almost a year now and Julian still doesn't ping me at all. I've tried talking to him every day, and then later ignoring him, but neither seem to work. I'm at a loss here. He's been in town far enough.

How do I get Julian to move out? Are there any specific tricks to guarantee he'll leave?

Is he the 10th villager to move in? Has anybody moved in since him?

There isn't anything to guarantee him to move out, unfortunately. Cycling is the only way, but 10th move ins are very difficult to get out. I've never managed it

It seems like you've already touched on this but here's what I do with annoying villagers. I know some people say that ignoring them does nothing, but for me it has helped move out every villager I've wanted to. You talk to them once to get them on the friendship scale, and then ignore them forever. It may take a while, but do not talk to them whatsoever.
Find a villager and completely exhaust their dialogue (either to the point of where they mention something about a rumor or to when they send you away).

After this, TT two days in advance and talk to the same villager and exhaust their dialogue again. You may get a string of dialogue where it says "Did you hear that [villager name] is moving out soon?" Go talk to that villager and have them stay. Rinse and repeat until the name of the villager you want is mentioned and let them move out.

He is the 10th villager. I had no idea the 10th move in was difficult to get out. At least this explains why I've had so much trouble.

I've never been able to move a 10th out. Somebody else has always had to go first, and I've tried everything. Have also cycled out around 30 villagers in my main town alone, the newest villager just never pinged to move.
I've heard of people saying they managed it, but that could be for any number of reasons. Certainly nothing I've attempted helped. Move somebody else out, then you will have him ping you to move

I'll definitely try this. Thanks!

This is sad to hear since I have all my dreamies and they moved in perfect spots. My character slots are full and their houses are complete, so I have no one to plot reset with. But if all else fails, I will try this.

- when they ask for favors you could try shooting them down instead of doing them
- or try the classic "be mean to them" shove them, hit em with a net, etc.
- like said in above you can talk to them to the point where they get irritated with you over and over again.
and if they STILL don't go away they must love negative attention hahaha

I can't say it will definitely work but if ignoring doesn't work do try talking to them a little bit each day till they request something from you and then make sure to reject the request.

This worked great for me, I had Tabby as a starting villager for ages and I wanted to get rid of her so bad, I ignored her for so long but it was always other villagers who wanted to move and then I tried hitting her everyday and that didn't seem to work either. Now usually when I want villagers I have a friendship with to move out I just do this and it's worked quite well for me so far.

I feel your pain! Papi is my only original villager left and he wont ping to move!!! And I need him gone to get my last dreamie and build a bridge!!! He's cute but still I want him gone! :c

Ah, best of luck to you! I cannot for the life of me get Midge to move out, and I've tried everything!

There is a quick way to get rid of annoying villagers but you have to TT which I know some people don't like to do.
I saw a vid about it on youtube

I have a fast and successful method I use in my town to cycle out unwanted villagers, regardless of speaking to them or ignoring them. But the 10th villager is different. I went a long time ignoring Roscoe and he never asked to move....I spent time talking to Yuka now and then, became decent friends, she still never asked to move.
Your best bet might be to instead, create a new thread and ask if anybody has managed to move out a 10th villager. I'm sure some people will say yes....maybe if you can get exactly what they did to get them out, good luck

Thank you all for your suggestions. I made a mistake, though. Julian is actually my 9th villager, not 10th. Does anyone have any ideas why he won't move now? Sorry about that.

I had two villagers who wouldn't move out and I finally got them to move. By talking to them till they told me to go away. I did that everyday till they pinged me to move, it didn't take long.

This isn't a safe idea because what if the villager you chose to talk to is the mover? They won't give you a rumor about themselves moving. I've done this before and sometimes the first villager won't tell you about a possible mover. You may have to talk to 2-3 different villagers to find a mover.

What people don't seem to understand is, nothing you do will influence a villager's decision to leave. Whether you talk to them, ignore them, whatever; it does not matter. It doesn't make them any more or less likely to leave. All you can do is TT to a new day, start your game, and hope the villager you want to leave is the one selected as the mover. In OP's case though, it's really not worth it. 99% of people have never been able to get a 10th villager to leave, including myself. I've seen people claim its possible, but I'm honestly skeptical. All you're really doing is wasting your time and exposing yourself to the risk of one of your other villagers moving out.

Kill 'em with kindness.
It's a weird opposite situation where the ones you actually talk to every day want to move out.
But if you have zero relationship with them and you just don't talk? They tend to stick around.
Just talk to him a butt load for a few weeks and he'll ask to move out in no time.
Plus, you're not kicking him out on a negative note.

This ^

Everyone seems to have a theory about how to get them to move: "ignore them; hit them with a net; befriend them," etc, but it's all a coincidence if any of that works. It's random.

What always works for me:
1. TT forward two days.
2. Check if anyone is moving (not sure how to check? use this guide. trust me, it works)
3. If no one is moving, start over with step one. If someone is moving, either stop them (and start over from step one) or let them move

Just have patience and he'll move eventually! Good luck

It is really annoying to try to get a villager that just moved in to move out. I have this problem in my town because I like most of my villagers and only want a couple to leave. I find the ones that I talk to tend to ask to move more. Ignoring them doesn't usually work for me. Sometimes if I am really annoyed by them, I invite friends to my town and have them talk spam the villager I want to leave. I'm not sure if that helps or not though.

if he's your 10th villager then he wont move no matter what. or at least that s what i heard from most players here.
if hes not your 10th, then maybe use this method that i always use to boot my villagers out. it works like a charm!

1. go around for moving pings
2. if a villager you wanna keep pings you about moving, save, restart game and TT 6 days forward.
3. Save game immediately and close. TT 6 days back to present time.
4. go around town for pings again.

keep doing this method until u get julian to ping you.
