Can't cut trees in Club Tortimer

So I just got on the island. There were two other people there (names and character information withheld). I use the island as a beetle farm, but I couldn't cut any of the trees. I normally cut the center and the bottom four, but it made the sound of me hitting another person. Why did this happen?

Perhaps because you were't the first there thus not being the "host".

sometimes it glitches,
for example i was the first person to get on the island, but when 2 more people came, i kept "bouncing back" rather than chopping the tree. It was almost like i was hitting an invisible object or something x3

sometimes it just doesn't work.

J087, the online island doesn't belong to anyone, so I don't think anyone can be a host *shrugs*
