amiibo Festival Can you use only amiibo cards?

I was thinking about getting the game, but I'm not sure I really want to buy the bundle with the figurines. Is it possible to play the game with just the amiibo cards (using Isabelle or Digby cards instead of the figurines, for example?). Can anyone confim/deny this?

The cards only work for mini-games, which is the best aspect of the game imo. The figures themselves only work for the main feature, though I believe you can call a villager from a card to help you out. You can also get help from the figures in some of the mini-games.

Additionally, the hub world grows more populated as more and more characters get scanned in.

You have to unlock the mini games, so no.

Haven't gotten amiibo Festival yet though, so I don't know.
