Can you Streetpass in Another Country?

Hi, I have been wondering this for a while now and since I'm still new to my 3DS after having it for 3 months, I am unsure. I have done a bit of research but a lot of the answers contridict each other. So in a nutshell, I am part of a military family in the US and we are moving to Belgium in July. I never StreetPass'd anyone from another country before and since my 3DS is American I was wondering if it would even work overseas. Would anyone know?

It should, I've gotten Streetpasses from people from Japan and England. Both of those countries are in different regions.

I've gotten Streetpass from a handful of countries. Canada, Mexico, and even Germany.

This is such exciting news! I really hope I get someone from Belgium this summer! Thank you for answering! I'm disappointing that I will miss out on one of the Best Buy spotpasses in the U.S. though. :/

Yeah you can, I've gotten American and Japanese streetpasses.

Someone even took their 3DS to Japan and still got streetpasses so yeah you can

Hey, welcome to Belgium next month!

Though a tiny country, it is very densely populated and you WILL meet Belgian folks through Streetpass.

There are several military bases in Belgium so not sure where you will be moving to but if it happens to be Nato related you may well be landing in the Brussels area (capital) where you will meet numerous nationalities certainly when you walk around the central market place ('la grande place') of Brussels.

That's where I usually 'catch' the most Streetpass folks.

Otherwise you can catch them in the usual places (certainly during the summer): fairgrounds, theme parks, big events (July 11th = Flanders' national day; July 21st Belgium's national day), sporting events (mainly cycling events, very popular in Belgium), game shop Gamemania (only in Flanders, Dutch speaking part).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time in Belgium and get the opportunity to complete your quests/collections with Streetpass!

There's an achievement in the Plaza that you get for StreetPassing someone outside of your country, so yes, you can.
