Can you get models from Flick/CJ at other people's towns?

if you visit them in other peoples' towns they basically just say hi and that's it

You can only sell and / or get models when they are on your Island....

You can't get the models when they are on another person's island, but I have had them let me sell to them before. It has been a while since I've done that, so I could be misremembering.

No, unfortunately you can only commission Flick and CJ when they're on your own island. I've never had them let me sell items to them either when I see them on my friend's islands.
