Can villagers change their wallpaper and flooring?

I really want to give Chrissy a lovely carpet because she seems to love lovely stuff, and it will look better than what she is currently using, but first I wonder if it's worth it to send her.

Try sending it in the mail. If that doesn't work then put it up in retail and just wait till she comes in then walk against her and push her towards the item making her do that '!' and buy it. good luck!

Aww, booooo I was gonna try what ellabella suggested, but now that I think about it, I did put random carpets and wallpaper in re-tail so my villagers will buy them and they never used them! Oh, well. Thanks for answering my question.

They used to. I forgot what game it stopped doing that I wish they would've kept the ability to change wallpaper and flooring.
