Can mule characters adopt villagers?

Or can only mayor characters convince an animal to come live in your town?
Just wondering because I'm trading two full sets for a villager, but my mayor doesn't have storage space for the sets and it would be a lot easy to go pick up my villager as my mule considering I have tons of locker space.

Lol, I feel so bad referring to my second as that but let's face it, that's basically what she is, bless her pixelated little programmed heart. I do like playing as her though. For a creepy little gardener that's based off my cat, she has an adorable house. And thanks! I'll keep that in mind next time. (Is it sad I'm excited to see another Marcie fan, Jupiter? EEEEP.)

I don't knowww. She's the cutest thing! When I adopted her off here, I was so stoked. Then I lost her in a freak accident and was devastated. My friend got her in his cycling town and he's scared of her, lol. "Her eyes are so sparkly and soul-less. Please come take her soon."
