Can I do some bug catching in someone's town?

It's the Bug Off today and Mott has 110 points so I need something good to beat him! And most of the rare ones are only available at night

In 30 minutes or so I plan on going to Friday night on my island to catch rare bugs in preparation for the Bug Off on Saturday. You are more than welcome to come along!

Edit: I should note that my island only has 3 or 4 trees on it, it's set up for catching large beetles.
