Can a villager ping you during a special event?

So, for example, today, which is the fishing tourney, will any villager ping me to move? Or am I safe for today?

Yep they can. I had fishing tourney today too and Pashmina pinged me and asked me to move! I told her no of course! Not ready to let go of that adorable little goat!
