Can a villager move back in if you let them go?

Today I have a visitor on my island named Whitney. She's really cute! I'd like for her to move in, but since my island is full, Resident Services won't let me decide who to negotiate with. Essentially, they decide for me.

And of course, they choose one of my favorite villagers who's willing to negotiate. Bianca.

I really like Bianca! And don't want her to go...but I am willing to let her leave my island if Whitney comes to stay. Ugh, I hate how I couldn't let Quillson go. Stupid smug duck >: P

If I decide to let Bianca go today, is there a possibility of getting her to come back to my island after she leaves? How precise is that possibility?

Bianca can move back literally so quickly. Same thing happened to me Raymond requested judy to leave and I got judy back right after Raymond from my friend.
You can reset who Whitney picks by closing out the game without saving may take a bit but eventually she will request someone else :3 I didn’t know until someone told me after I had my friend hold judy for me

good thing is in this game there isn’t a cycle like in new leaf so if Bianca moves and you get Whitney in you can have Bianca move right back in after Whitney :3

Once someone has left you can absolutely get them back!
Either by trading, luck in your campsite or on the island. The only difference is it will be a 'reset' villager, so unfortunately they won't remember you

I recently gifted Zucker to someone and went on mystery island tours looking for replacement.. Guess who was on Island # 2.... Yup, Zucker! LOL

The villager will remember you if it's the same villager - so if you've traded it to another island and you visit that Island, they'll remember you!
But if it's the same villager that you find through other means, like the island or campsite, then it will be reset.

It's really strange when it happens too, having them introduce themselves to you as if you haven't already met

I've heard about this but didn't think it to be 100% of the time

I've watched some YouTubers do it and I did it to get Raymond, and it worked! So at least try it.

I've moved Fauna out and give her to my daughter's (her island), then 2-3 days later, I changed my mind and literally asked if she could give me back Fauna in exchange for another cute villager lol and yeah, in the end, Fauna is in my island again and she remembers me.

Btw, if it doesn't work and you want to keep a villager that a camper suggests, make sure to close the game immediately and try again.

I tried that method and it did not work. The villager you report changes clothes. That is all. The only proven method is close immediately after the camper tells you the selected villager.
