I need some serious tips on time traveling.. as I'm not so experienced there... what should I avoid doing & what should I watch out for when time traveling?? As well as how do you benefit from time traveling?? I dont really have any personal dreamies yet [i have sheldon, pashmina, alice, bob, pate] but once I do have dreamies I dont want to loose them on accident while time traveling >_<!!!!! I also might want to use time traveling to help me get some dreamies because I've heard about people doing that but I dont know exactly how..!!! How to "cycle" what is cycling...??? Please share your tips ā™¤ā™”ā—‡ā™§ā˜† I just completed the campsite today!!! I feel like I could've done that sooner if I had time traveled maybe even in a day and then I could've competed in the fishing tourney but oh well.. oh can I tt back to the fishing tourney?! I also could use some more blossom petals......

Any funny stories you have about time traveling?

So the only downside to time travel as of rn is that turnips rot if you go BACK in time, not forward.

I believe in this game villagers dont move out unless they prompt you to and you encourage them to go. So as far as I'm aware you cant lose a villager by time traveling unless you prompt them to go.

There doesnt seem to be any downsides to time travel this time around cause you dont even get a bunch of weeds.

Oh that's great.. I dont know what I'm so afraid of I noticed it can be used to speed up the process of the game

The only downsides are weeds, cockroaches in your house and your villagers saying that you've been gone for a while. Theyre all things that are very easily dealt with (e.g pick the weeds, squash all the cockroaches and just speak to each villager once if you've TTed super far and they'll exclaim that they havent seen you in ages, but wont mention it again afterward. I believe they only start saying this if you havent logged in for an in game week)
edit: it makes me laugh that roaches was auto censored lol but it makes sense

To add to this, while time travelling forward doesn't rot your turnips, normal turnips rules still apply - so if you TT to the nearest upcoming Sunday or beyond that, they'll rot just like they do normally. That's not a side effect of TT, they'd have rot if you kept hold of them that long anyways.

I did time travel once to try and fix my game and see the bunny and the bridge was finished all peaches back like everything got completed and refreshed!!! Oh and the hair which I like actually.... I tried to catch the roach for the museum and I dont believe I succeeded...

are you sure about that last part? i have tons of weeds that i’m sure are from TTing so much... i think you’re right on the rest, though! there are no real downsides except roaches, weeds, and the villagers saying they haven’t seen you in x amount of time and those are all pretty easily dealt with. villagers definitely don’t move out without asking anymore.

Weeds are abundant and grow rampantly if you don't trim them down periodically. I had my entire top cliff suffocating of weeds when I was cycling villagers out the other day.

Also, if you TT with turnips past Sunday, they will spoil just like as if you went backwards with them

My friend time traveled 6 months into the future to get to the winter and she didnt get a ton of weeds so I'm not sure?

hmm, it may be that i often time travel day by day without bothering to pluck any weeds that spawn, while your friend just did one big jump? not sure if that'd make a difference, it seems i have no idea how weeds work in this game.

I feel like the only downside is turnips and that your town can get messy, which means you might have to spend a while digging out unwanted flowers and weeds, other than that it seems like its ok. I timetravel if I have nothing left to do in a day and I wanna keep playing, I also timetravel to get my bridges, inclines and house movings done faster. But in the end of the day I timetravel back to the current date, as long as I don't have turnips ofc, but I never do so I don't care

How do you cycle villagers??
Has anyone time traveled and seen different flowers in shop?
People have suggested TTing 5 days at a time to cycle villagers - like others said, they won't move out on their own, but every 5 days or so just check on all your villagers to see if they have the thought bubble over their head to indicate they are thinking about leaving (sometimes they will just give you a gift). If no one is moving, TT 5 days ahead again. I think at the moment, that's the quickest way to really cycle villagers, short of kicking them out with Amiibos.

Re: Flowers, I believe every player/island has a set couple of flower types that will appear in their shop only, and you;ll have to trade for the ones you don't have. I've seen only 3 different types of flowers in my shop always.
