Buying Furniture

I'm just starting to grasp the furniture deal.

The first day I had the game, Tom Nook had a lime chair and a black chess pawn (didn't buy the pawn although I loved it, because I thought he would have it till I bought it. Stupid me.), and now he has two new items (can't remember them and can't check, as my DS's battery is dead).

I want to complete the catalog. So do I have to buy everything once? And does that mean I can get it again when I order it from the catalogue?

Will Tom re-cycle his wares? I want that pawn.

Yes, buy everything to complete the catalog. You only have to hold something once to get it to show up in your catalog (pick up off ground or get from villager, etc.). Yes, Nook "recycles" his wares, but it may take a while for something particular to resurface.

With a few hundred furniture items, it might take a few months... depending on what level Nook's shop is at.
