Business hours changed?

"Due to certain reasons, the business hours for today have been changed. Store Owners."

I often get that message when I try to enter the Emporium in towns I visit.
Why does it appear, and when does the store open instead?

Huh, that's strange. I'm not sure, I tried a google search but nothing came up. I've never heard of that before. When the person whose town you're in tries to go in, does the same thing happen?

What time was it when this happened? Could it have a been an ordinance in place?

The owner is away but the town is open like 24/7. I visited the town before at 9AM, when the Emporium usually opens regardless of the ordinance, and it gave that message. When I returned in the afternoon it was open.

Today I arrived at 9:58AM and it gave that message. I waited 3 minutes and it was still closed. Curiously the Able's shop was also still closed. I left and travelled back but it had the same result. Could it be a mayor's-only shopping moment which bans all visitors?

Never had that happen but you are always active when I visit and your gates aren't open when you pass the 6AM mark.

Maybe that's why. It maybe a glitch in the game. When its hits 6 AM Isabelle gives her morning wake up call. Maybe this doesn't happen when your gate is open.

Yeah, City Folk did that too. Well it didn't have that message, but if your gate was open at the 6am changeover, the store never reopened when the time came (until the gate has been closed).
