bushes and bamboo help?

whenever i try to plant bushes next to bamboo, they die?! i've read that you can plant bushes right next to bamboo, but i've tried four times and every bush start died

i'm wondering what the problem is with this? the holes are where i tried to plant bushes before



does it matter which order i plant them in? i could really use some advice :>

It's too close to your house. If you put the bushes on the other side of the bamboo, you'd have better luck.
