Hello forum! I decided to surround my town hall with bushes to decorate it, but I am having some difficulties. I will give you a quick prospect of the situation.

LEGEND:
(o) Bush
(?) Wiltering bush
(x) Space occupied by Town Hall
(•) Bushes to be removed

ooooo?oooo
o xxxxxxx o
o xxxxxxx o
o xxxxxxx o

As you can see, the Town Hall is completely surrounded by bushes on three sides, but there is ONE spot behind the Hall in wich bushes keep wilting, no matter what I do.
So here's my plan to fix this problem:

•oooooooo•
o xxxxxxx o
o xxxxxxx o
o xxxxxxx o

By removing the two bushes in the corners, I SHOULD be able to plant one where I currently cannot.

But what di you guys think? Have you ever had a similiar problem?

you can only have a maximum of 12 rows of plants, including bushes, bamboo and trees, only a line of 12.

Well, the Town Hall is 10 spaces WIDE, so that would take 10 bushes to cover its width PLUS 2 extra corner ones, which is exactly 12! So why is that bush wilting?

It could be a dead spot, meaning that you can't plant anything there no matter what. It's a very annoying mechanic in the game, but it happens.

you have to replant all of it 1 by one everyday. to remove the dead spot.

I'm having trouble reading your legend

Are the bushes I marked in red touching?

Because then they're in a row of 14 like

I HAVE been planting them one by one everyday, in order to prevent this very problem..! );

No they aren't touching! The legend I made didn't factor in the depth of the Town Hall, since I am having trouble only on the wide side. The bushes engulf the whole Hall, including the cobbled path in front of it, which is 3 spaces deep.

I'll try to make a real life size model so that you can have a clearer idea of what I am talking about.

OOOOO?OOOO

(OBVIOUSLY none of the bushes is right next to the town hall: there's always at least one free space!)

When I had a spot where I couldn't get one to grow, I found I had to plant them top to bottom (in my case), and not meeting in the middle. I would remove at least one bush to the right, then see if you can get one to grow in the current dead spot.

This. This was so useful, thank you for answering! (:
I will keep you posted on my progress!

The one in the middle (two on left, two on right) will never grow. It's not a dead spot, those are a myth. Removing the corners will not help you, the line will still continue in the diagonals.

You have too many bushes connecting. You can only have up to 12 bushes or trees connecting. The wiki describes it here under the New Leaf section. Even if the bushes are diagonal from each other, they're considered connected.

Ultimately, if you want to fix this, you're going to have to break up the long rows somehow. You can either space them apart by one (which a lot of people do), or leave openings to get in somewhere along the row. That's really all you can do about it. Sorry. =/

They're actually connected at the corners, which makes what stacie is saying true. You can't have that many touching like that together.
