Other AC games it was bug catching but now tools break it's diving. After finding out you don't have to mash A to dive I'm enjoying it. It's quick bells in a short period of time.

I like the bugs best because you see them in their environment and stuff. I just find it neat. Not that I don't like fishing, but I prefer diving over fishing. I'm not sure why. I guess I just feel like the process is smoother.

I like bug catching and fishing fairly equally, though each has their downside. Some bugs spawning on trees can be annoying, especially the particularly rare ones, if you approach the tree from the wrong angle not knowing they're there and they get scared off. Meanwhile, I don't generally tend to play with the audio on so some fish manage to get away because the timing can be unforgiving. Despite owning the game since launch, I've never yet achieved a 100-fish streak.

If I had to pick, even though it can be annoying sometimes, I think I'll say I like fishing the best since you have to wait for the fish to actually bite and it's a little more satisfying when it works out.

Not too fond of diving, to be honest. I like some of the stuff that can be caught via diving, and I know it can be fairly easy to catch even the speedier and more elusive creatures if you go about it the right way, but I'm just not fond of button mashing. It's better than it was in New Leaf; I don't really dislike the concept, I actually find the swimming fairly relaxing, I just really don't feel comfortable with aggressive button mashing because it seems like it would make internal parts wear down faster.

I do enjoy diving and it’s a great way to earn bells and I feel like it was a nice addition to the game. But I prefer bug hunting because I can see what I am about to catch - I love a star net too!

Most to least favourite activities:
  1. Diving - I find it very relaxing, and it's nice that I can do this with a completely empty inventory. I'm not a strong swimmer IRL, so it's nice to see my character have an easy time with it in-game. X) I absolutely love the purple leaf-print wet suit!
  2. Fishing - I also find it fairly relaxing. It's a lot easier to fish with my eyes closed so I avoid anticipating the moment when the fish takes the bait. It's fairly easy to keep track of when I need to customize the fishing rod again using the inventory.
  3. Catching bugs - I used to loathe bug-catching, but I don't mind it so much now. Catching all the cicadas and stags was fairly annoying because I found it pretty difficult to tell each species apart, but between my S/O and me, we managed to help each other catch everything. The star net goes pairs really well with my current outfit. :3

Bug catching. I like to look my target in their many, many eyes before catching them and not spend ages reeling in 50 black bass and 1 stringfish if I'm lucky.

I like fishing to a point; I kind of like not knowing what I'm catching, until I'm trying to catch one specific fish and I'm getting everything but. I also love diving because it's still one of the 'newer' things and I just enjoy being out in the water. I probably do bug catching the least, not necessarily because it's my least favourite but because I'm usually just trying to catch whatever species I haven't yet caught, and with bugs you can obviously see whether you've caught it or not a lot easier than with fish and diving creatures

I've started to find diving dull and haven't done much of it. If it turned into a scuba simulator that'd be a different story but then it'd become a different game entirely. 😅

Fishing is relaxing at night if I feel like doing something more idle, but catching bugs is definitely my favorite. More involved and I like being able to scope out my catches.

I like fishing the most as for me, its the most guaranteed way of catching something, you just watch for the line to sink/the sploosh sound and click A, while for catching bugs, there were so many times where I actually scared them away or missed the net catching them. Diving for me is a little frustrating as I don't move as fast as I want to and for some of the faster moving creatures, I haven't cracked the code on how to best cut them off. Although it is to be said that with catching bugs, you know if you caught it before or not since it is clearly visible for you while for fishing and diving, it has an element of mystery so you get quite a few duplicates

while i enjoy doing all of them, i would say i prefer diving. i just love new horizons graphics, it makes everything so nice to do, especially diving for me!

I enjoy bug catching the most. Fishing can be annoying if you don't have sound on, and diving is repetitive.

diving feels like the most interactive and also fun activity. it's relaxing but also very decently challenging when you try and get a fast creature like a vampire squid, etc.

i can't stand fishing bc the visuals distract from catching for me (have to only listen to the game and catch based on sound) and bug catching really depends on the bug.

For me it's diving. It's the most relaxing of the 3, the most profitable of the 3, and the fact you don't have to worry about your tools breaking makes it a lot better than fishing or bug catching for me.

Catching bugs is my favourite! I don't like fishing all that much, I find it stressful. I haven't played the diving update yet but I found it super annoying in NL.

I've always been a fisher. As much as I love diving and bug catching, it's always the most exciting for me. Especially during september with the salmon and king salmon, I find those the most exciting to catch.

Honestly it's got to be diving. The fact I don't have to worry about anything breaking while I'm out hunting being the main reason.
