is there any way to transfer my game if i get a new switch as long as i’m under my same nintendo account? i downloaded the game on my switch light. i don’t want to start over
 
I'm so sorry this happened to you 😰! Atm sadly, there's no way to transfer your island to another switch, even if you're using the same account. Nintendo said they plan to make data transferring available later this year, but nothing's really guaranteed. If you decide to buy another switch and make an island though, I'd be happy to offer fruit, igb, materials, and other things to help out <3.
 
oh man....im really sorry about your switch! unfortunately the game data is saved to each unique switch console, regardless of whether you have the downloaded or the hardcopy of the game. the only option left is to start from scratch again :'( lmk if you need any fruits, there's plenty to go around as well as materials.
 
The more stories I hear about people breaking their switch or having hardware issues, the angrier I feel towards Nintendo for not just implementing cloud saves in the first place. One of the stupidest and most inconsiderate decisions they ever made.
 
I just wish games saved to the cart.

I hope there's a way to get your island back.
I'm sure you've contacted them.

They did say there would be a way for online subscribers to transfer data should something like this happen.

I just don't know if they've implemented it. :(

If you do start over I'll help out however I can. I have tons of fossils, hybrids ect..

If in the end you must start over because there is no other solution, feel free to pm me for some free diys and you can catalog items for free as well!
 
In a game that is all about building and collecting, with hundreds of hours invested, it seems almost cruel to not have sort of backup system. And it's not like it has done much to stop cheating/duping.

I hope Nintendo support is able to help you... contact them, it's worth a shot... maybe they have cloud saves on their end. Hope you're able to get island back, but if not, let us know if there's anything you need. I can help out with bells and some diys, or items you need crafted.
 
I’m so sorry that this happened to you! I really hope that Nintendo comes up with a way to backup games for situations like this, especially given how much ever player inevitably begins to care about all the hard work they put into their islands. Not just the building and terraforming, but also finding villagers and building friendships.

If you need to restart, you can also PM me if you need anything! I have a bunch of spare fossils in my storage that could probably complete over 1/3 of your museum right off the bat, and I’d be happy to give you a bunch to help you get back to where you were. I know it’s not a real replacement, but it’s one fewer thing you’d need to worry about. Take care 🥰

On the slim chance that they've quietly implemented some sort of device data transfer that hasn't been announced yet. Even if they haven't, it wouldn't hurt to shake their tree a little bit and remind them that they still have customers waiting for a solution out here.
