A lot of people seem to be struggling with putting a bridge back in the same place. I didn't have this problem with one of my bridges, it was just pushed over to the side 1 space, which was fine.
So what's the problem everyone's having and why does everyone hate Isabelle? :/

(There was a bridge I couldn't place over the water, but it was understandable because there was never a bridge there to begin with and Peanut and my 3rd character were in my way..)

The problem is that villagers can move very close to a bridge, but you cannot build a bridge near a villager.
So if a villager builds their house near a bridge you want to replace you're:

a) screwed and must build the bridge elsewhere
b) have to kick out that villager

The same applies to pwps. She won't let you build the bridge until you demolish pwps near it, only to be able to rebuild those pwps in the exact same spot.

In my past towns, permanent PWPs like the campsite or cafe would prevent me putting the bridges back after I wanted to change the type of bridge. I had a cafe that was 5 blocks right and 1 block up from were my bridge was and it wouldn't let me put my new bridge in the same place. It would make me angry because I always had symmetrical bridges in my old towns. Now, that I've learned that lesson, I never places permanent PWPs where I have bridges or where future bridges will be placed. And when I reset for villager home placement, I try to do the same thing.

I'm having this issue currently. I removed a bridge and can't put it in the same spot, and because of the layout I have, it's the only area I can put a sideways or diagonal bridge. But it means I have to get rid of Kabuki, one if my dreamies. :(

I destroyed my original cobblestone bridge to build a fairy one but isabelle wouldn't let me because another pwp was "close" ( and I would not destroy it). I changed the location of the bridge and I like it very much now. I do wish I could tell Isabelle to fu** off s

This is totally random but I love the fact you too have Pippy ;)

I have a mostly zen theme so I destroyed all my cobblestone bridges to put in suspension bridges. One worked perfectly.

The second was to close to the police station, so I had to dig up bushes and move paths. While I couldn't place it where I wanted it, she let me place it directly in front. .?? But it cut the area by that section in river in half and gave me better spots for pwps, so I'm glad now.

The third was the bridge leading to my house. I had to demolish two pwps and then rebuild... It was just an unnecessary annoyance.
