Hi guys! So I know bridge placement is very finicky in this game and I did a major mistake relating to the issue and I'm not sure what do to fix it or to what to do for a compromise. :/ I'm pretty upset about it and am almost put off of playing ACNL. :/ Anyways on to the issue!

I have all my dream Villagers obtained but when plot resetting my last villager Mira (her house is the one below the campsite) I looked up a bridge placement guide and read that I needed 4 spaces of empty area on either side of where a new bridge would be placed. After plot resetting for awhile her house was about where I wanted it and it was 4 spaces away from the river. Stupid me forgot to count the extra one area of space needed around her house... So low and behold I plot reset her one space too close to the river to place the bridge. So I need help deciding on what to do here, I have a few options:

1. Let Mira move and do the 16 villager cycle, which would be painful as I'm not about to let any of my other 9 villagers move. I could just forget Mira and pick a different villager but my town is Sailor Moon themed and she is actually loosely based off a character from the series, so she is a must. Is the 16 villager cycle worth it or is it too much work? I'd also have to delete my 4th Character so I could plot reset again but I only just added her so I don't mind deleting her if I have to.

2. Find a compromise and put bridges where I can (which I am extremely limited to places where I can put bridges). Please see my map posted below. The area between the existing bridge and gyroid are the only places Isabelle will let me place bridges and I can't delete any of my player's houses as they wouldn't help (Cafe too close to the other side, Mira's house still in the way, river too wide). Finally in the spot where a bridge would fit perfectly (the red icon where my character is standing) is where a very inconvenient rock is located argh!

3. Find a way to delete/move that rock! Which I'm pretty sure there's absolutely no way to move that darn rock, but if I could have that would fix all my problems! (Not sure why I put this as #3 but anyways...)

4. Scream and toss my 3DS out the window... Ok I'm definitely not doing this (too much money invested in this thing plus I love my 3DS), but if I can't find a compromise here that's what I feel like doing. :/

What would you guys do in this situation/what do you think I should do here? Try doing option #1 or #2 or possibly something else? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ugh that really sucks, I'm so sorry for you.

Trying to 16 villager cycle with only one villager able to move would definitely be a sure and slow form of torture, so I would probably not go with that option! Is the rock preventing you from placing the bridge, or is it just ugly for where you want to have a path or something? I'd probably go with a bridge there, and plant trees in front of the rock to hide it, and a winding path through the said trees, would that work at all? I'm not being very helpful here but I know it just sucks so I wanna be able to give you a response that might make you feel a little better :)

Good luck with whatever you decide, working around problems is basically New Leaf's second name I reckon!

Stab Nook because I blame all problems on that greedy money loving raccoon.

No, but actually, doing the 16 villager cycle seems the most... logical thing to do. But BE CAREFUL TTing (if you do).

Or can you put a bridge to the right of your house? (the one on the top, closest to the cafe) Or is that spot too close?

I would definitely recommend AGAINST the 16 villager cycle --- stitches is my #2 and I'm letting him go due to poor placement. It's been almost 4-5 days of just straightup cycling and he still hasn't asked to move (I have 9 villagers I'm refusing to let move obviously).

I would just do the long walk when it comes to bridges, since Mira DID end up where you wanted her (kind of). Bridges aren't a big deal and since she's kind of a must for (Venus I'm assuming) your town, then that's that ^^;

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately the rock prevents me from placing a bridge there at all as its smack dab in between the two houses and one space away from the river. Otherwise I'd totally place the bridge there.

That's where I want to put a bridge and I've had one there before but Mira's prevents me from putting one there now. I managed to TT my older town from September last year to June this year without losing any of my 10 villagers so I'm pretty careful with it. I still know of the risks though.

Ah that really is a pickle! There is something you may be able to do, but I believe its frowned upon here and I personally don't do it either, but the AC tumblr community may be able to help you out (sorry I sound super vague, just don't wanna get in trouble, not sure if I'm allowed to mention it on this site!)

I have my fingers crossed someone else has a better idea for you real soon :)

Thanks! If I don't find any other possible options I'm probably going to do the 16 Villager cycle. So I'll just wait and see what happens in the meantime.

I meant like in the right corner where the river is diagonal instead of vertical. So it's not directly next to Mira but it'll be to the top left of her house

Oh, I see what you're saying now! I'm pretty sure I've tried there before to no avail, but I'll try again just in case.

Edit: Nope Isabelle says it's too close to my (the Mayor's) house. :/

D: What if you moved like one or two steps down from there? Sometimes if I can't get it right away, I move like a little bit over or I circle around that area to see if they'll let me build.

Still nothing unfortunately I can edge all around the river one space at a time and the only area Isabelle lets me put a bridge is on the left side between the existing bridge and Gyroid. :/ Which is fine for one bridge, but I really want a second bridge that leads to the other side of town as well. *sigh* Thanks for trying to help though, I really appreciate it. ^.^

Can you squeeze a bridge between the blue house (like in the nook/middle) and the yellow house? If you want a bridge to lead to the other side of town that might work if Isabelle lets you put a bridge there.

Nope I can't place a bridge anywhere other than between the existing bridge and Gyroid. So I guess I've decided to to the 16 villager cycle. I will be closing this thread now.

Thanks for all the help everyone! I appreciate it. ^.^
