So I'm thinking of moving one of my bridges, and I wanted to make sure it would work, since I've heard bridges need a lot of extra space, and I can't find much specifically on diagonal bridges

I want to place the bridge in the river corner in the first picture, going to where I'm standing in the second.

(The bridge in the first picture is the one I'll be replacing, so it won't be a problem.)

I'm planning on placing a fountain in the back of the first picture (the random, separate tiled area in the back), but I'll wait until after I build the bridge to do that. Still, will it work? It's 5 squares away from the lower part of the river, but only 3 away from the part of the river on the left.

I'll be removing the instrument shelter in the second picture before I start, and I doubt I'll be able to rebuild it there afterwards, which I'm fine with.

Then there's only the police station, but I'm nearly sure that's far enough away (at least 6 spaces from the river, before the bend).

Thanks in advance if you can help!

I don't think you have enough room on the upper portion in terms of land for the bridge to connect to. As a rule of thumb, it seems you need 3 spaces touching diagonally. Judging by the first picture, you only have space for two beneath those carnations.
