Bridge placement near villager house

Does anyone know how much space is needed between a villager house and a bridge for Isabelle to allow its construction? I have my brick bridge facing Flurry's house right now and there is a space of 3 cases between them. I was wondering if I destroy the bridge, would I be able to build a new one at the same place?

Do not destroy that bridge yet. I have Pekoe 3 spaces away and I thought that would be fine, it's not. You need four spaces for just the bridge and one more for the house so 5 total. If you do destroy it, ou would have to rebuild it somewhere else or completely go without that bridge until she moves.

Just to add onto what snowblizzard said, the rule is do bridges before houses. you very likely won't be able to place a bridge in that general area again should you destroy it.
