I have had the Wii U version of the game ever since it was released back on March 3rd, 2017. And since the eshop for the console (and 3DS) will close sometime next year, I was wondering if I should purchase the expansion pass before it happens. If you did buy it, how was your experience without mentioning story spoilers?

In my opinion, the DLC was worth every penny and then some, even accounting for the fact that I had to buy it twice (once in Wii U, then again on Switch when I got my Switch copy of the game). It adds a large amount of content and a lot of extra play time to the game. If you enjoyed Breath of the Wild, you'll enjoy the DLC too.

If you enjoy the game the DLC is worth it. You’re getting a bunch of new shrines, some new cutscenes that flesh out the characters, several pieces of new armor, and a new way to explore the world (I won’t spoil what it is in case you haven’t seen it).

Somehow I missed that there was DLC? I’m going to go ahead and say it’s worth it, solely based off how amazing the game itself is.

Yes, its definitely worth it! I bought BoTW and the DLC during the LoZ anniversary promotion and didnt regret it! The DLC adds extra story and items for Link as well as more shrines. More shrines means more hearts or stamina (if it wasnt full already) so thats always a good thing too.

Absolutely worth the price. The Breath of the Wild DLC is excellent, and I can't imagine playing the game without it now that I have it. Tons of great additional content.

It's the only DLC I ever bought and may very well stay that way. The extra lore was great and can't complain about a few more dungeons/quests. If you want to find all the Koroks without cheating/using a guide, the DLC is seriously a game changer with helping you out (probably the main highlight of the DLC to me haha, I don't want to mention why in case that counts as a spoiler for you). I...didn't like the big end game reward for completing the DLC story, but I dunno other people's opinions on it so that could very well be an unpopular opinion (and it's not that it automatically made the DLC bad it's just a bonus that I don't care about)

Overall, I was satisfied with it, I don't regret buying it because I seriously loved this game to bits and wanted to extend the experience. Though in my unbiased opinion, I dunno if I could say it is $20 worth it/ a must buy for everyone. If you're a big fan of BoTW, hands down yes grab it while you can, if you just enjoyed it casually, it isn't all that necessary (the cutscenes are surely on youtube if you just want to see the added lore).
