I attempted to word this thread in such a way that i wouldn't be banned... but who knows, maybe I'm still breaking the rules.

I just want to say how funny it is that some shops have unending supplies of rares (golden tools, pics, DLCs... ect)

Anyone who pays enough attention to some of the shop threads can see that there are a lot of people who erm... illegitimately obtain items.

I guess the funny thing to me is the fact that cheating is against the rules on the forum and people purchase from these shops.

It's like saying stealing is wrong but purchasing stolen products is fine!

Some people have multiple towns though, some reset towns or time travel to events etc. Did you consider that?

Many items are unorderable and not able to get anymore. But when I think about now they could have gotten maany before they lost being abailable ;)

Oh no i understand people have alts and got multiples of DLC's... but shops that have sold 15+ sets of golden tools... kinda fishy

I dunno why you'd buy golden tools anyway, since you'd eventually get them all anyway just by playing the game, and mostly the silver or basic ones do just as good a job (Exception made for golden axe, so glad I got my golden axe). What would you buy them for, bragging rights, as in: look here are the golden tools I didn't actually earn?

OP's got me thinking now, though. I think there's some people I need to remove from my friend list...

I don't know how easy/if you can clone items, but how do you assume they are obtained illegitimately? I know people with multiple golden tools from friends that no longer play.

Ultimately though an item is an item, does the same thing, its impossible to know the history of anything so why worry about it too much?

It's called duping. Let's not go further than that.

But I understand what TC is trying to say.

Some people might be buying for cheap and then reselling multiples of the same product for profit.

All of these things are possible. I have multiple towns, so I will eventually end up with 3 or 4 Golden Axes. When I created each new town I gave some furniture and event pieces to the new mayor. I usually have 2 or 3 mules, so I easily have 5 or 6 Ladder Shades, Exploration Boats, and stuff like that.

So yeah, friends and multiple towns can account for a lot.

Of course some of the shops are going to be duped items. You can't stop it or control it. Honestly, just try to avoid buying from shops that seem suspicious, or you know, get.over.it.
