today it's pretty common to see people with tattoos, piercings, and body mods of all kinds but in some areas, cultures, and religions it can be seen as taboo or in some a thing of art and beauty.

what do you think of body art?
do you have any? if so what? what meanings do they have to you? (do not feel obligated to share if you don't want to. also whatever the reason on why you got it it's your reason and as long as you are happy thats all that matters.)
ever want any?

if you are thinking about it please please:
IF YOU ARE UNDER AGE NEVER DO ANYTHING WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT AND A PROFESSIONAL.
MAKE SURE IT IS 100% WHAT YOU WANT NOT SOMEONE ELSE
DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!!

i have a tattoo and piercings and i plan on a few more. i think body art is lovely and beautiful but not all of it is something i would do nor recommend, but i respect it none the less.
i have 3 piercings in each ear, a nose ring on my right side, and a tattoo of a yin-yang made of fire and water with the Japanese kanji for water and fire in it. it normally stays hidden so people never see it, and that is perfect as it means alot to me, it is me i am a walking conundrum, the fire never goes out and the water never dries up, i can be calm like water or passionate like fire, ect. my piercings were a bonding thing and a way for me to mark things that made me stronger.
i want to get 3 more in each ear to finish marking off how far i've come, not sure about any others but i do want more tattoos as i want to cover up the bad memories with good ones. but money and health are a big issue right now and that gets top priority.

I have a few tattoos.

I'd like to get the dragon redone though.

I never liked them, but ended up with one, then another, then four.

they are addicting. if i may ask why didn't you like them before? (i ask alot of questions i'm sorry i just like learning peoples perspectives and thoughts.)

i am planning to get a ghost light tattoo on my thigh this year because i love theatre and i love the lil superstition around it (people leave a single light in the dark theatre to appease the ghosts and keep them from sabotaging the show, and some people believe that the ghosts like to have a light to perform around which is THE CUTEST THING EVER).

They're permanent, so you have to really want it.
I didn't like the idea of it, until I got one.

They don't bother me.
I know more people with tattoos than without.

I don't even notice them anymore, they're just part of me. :)

My wife has one also.

I personally say, it's fine to do that. :}
I mean...my parents are like no so yeah.

I won't get any myself since I'm the type to regret every choice I make.

yeah i can understand that i've met some people who regret what they got, thats why i always tell people who ask when they find out about mine to find what you want, then stare at it everyday for at least 8 hours depending on where you want it, and if you still absolutely 100% love it by the end of 1 year then get it. cuz thats what i did. i carried it with me everywhere and just stared at it when i wasn't busy. (i was still in highschool so i had lots of time)

yeah it's not something to take lightly at all. as they are super addictive and permanent. but props to you i envy that. if i didn't have scars i wanted hidden i would probably just leave it as is with my one. what about like ear piercings? i know quite a few who don't have them because they get in the way or get caught ect.

I have one tattoo that I got when I turned 19, and I'm planning to eventually have it lasered off. Mine is actually done really well; it's just not appealing to me at all anymore and I'd highly suggest waiting until you're well out of your teen years before getting inked. The only way I'd ever even consider getting tattooed again is if I fly out to Paris and see Sandry Riffard. Dude could tattoo anything he wanted on me and I'd be in love with it.

This is the major thing keeping me from getting a tattoo done myself. This is slightly different but I got a helix piercing some years back that I eventually had to take out. I was sad about it, but it was nice to know that it was literally as easy as taking the piercing out when I no longer wanted it. Unfortunately that doesn't quite work the same way with lobe piercings since a lot of the time you can still see the scars there.

I don't have any tattoos or anything like that, but I like looking at them on other people. I think they can be really well done and beautiful and it's a great way for people to express themselves creatively.

I only have two piercings on each ear but I rarely wear earrings anymore because they started to irritate me when I had to wear headsets for the phones at work. I used to think about getting a tattoo, but I could never come up with an idea that I felt like committing to forever.

I like the feeling of being tattooed.

I don't know why.
It's not pain to me.
It just feels good.

I don't want any tattoos personally, but I also don't have a problem with them. I've seen some really cool tattoos in my lifetime. I think the coolest tattoos I've seen were the wife of a previous co-worker had a whole Studio Ghibli anime movie sleeve. It was mostly Totoro focused, but had Kiki's Delivery Service and other Ghibli related stuff on it too. It was literally her whole arm, wrist to shoulder, and was super colorful. I'm sure that was ridiculously expensive to get done.

I think they can be a great way to express yourself. That, said, I tend to be of the view that a person should be 21+ for much of it. It gives a person time to finish growing completely and also to be more in tune with who they are, if that makes sense?

We chsnge SO MUCH from 18-21 let alone 25+. I just thinknit's wise to settle into yourself sonyoundon't regret itnlater. If I had gotten the tattoo ideas I thought were cool at 18 at 18 years old, I'd hate them now and want them removed. Better to get it and treasure it for what it is, what it means, and the memory of getting it later on in life.

I doubt that I'll get a tattoo. For me I don't see the appeal in it. If I ever changed my mind I can tell you that it would be somewhere I can cover it up easily as it would be more of a personal mark than something I'd wanna shout at the world at first sight. I don't want to limit the perception of my "identity" with some external permanent marker.

Tattoos can look good but I think that even when they look good technically, they will not be that desirable as something permanent on my skin. I can understand that they can mean a lot (and a lot of things) for other people, though. It's just that tattoos communicate something and - partially probably because I regard myself as very open to ideas - I wouldn't want to permanently communicate anything, even less so through the medium of my very own skin!

I think body art is pretty dang cool. Some of them are absolutely beautiful, and it's undeniable that the people who do them have major talent. I don't have a problem with piercings either, except exotic ones. Those are just offputting to me.

I personally wouldn't get either just because it's not my thing. :)

I don?t have any tattoos but I love them! I think each one tells a story about the person who wears them. I love when people tell me why they got them or about where they were in life when they got one. They?re lovely!
