Black Cosmos: The Flowers of Despair

Last weekend I decided that before I start landscaping my town, I wanted to collect a breeding pair of each flower. My beach is now lined with flowers in order of type, then color. This meant the first flower I needed to breed was a black cosmo. Luck would have it one had already popped up on its own in my overgrown fields.

That was nearly a week ago. No new black cosmo after daily breeding attempts. I only water my orange cosmo patch (which is set in a diamond pattern) with a fertilizer in the middle. Nothing. Nada. Blue roses were easier to breed for once I got the gene pool correct.

What's the deal with black cosmos! I only need to breed one! D;

I ended up spreading wildfire of Orange Cosmos and then I gave up. Bought two Black Cosmos off of here instead.

Ugh...I am having the same problem with Blue Pansies...

Really? Blue Pansies are really easy for me.
I have a bit of trouble with pink lillies and blue violets though.

Omg, yes, blue violets were a pain for me to breed Dx It took a while to complete my wildflower meadow because of that

Perhaps its because the flowers you are using are offspring of another? I forgot how it works but its something to do with family tree of the flower, that comes down to its chances. Try replacing the flowers by getting fresh ones from an island tour. These flowers have no family tree yet. That always seems to do the trick for me when I have those troubles...

Agreed.
Family history can really affect your chances--grab some new flowers and start over. In the meantime, go breed something else on your list. You'll get it done faster.

It took a while to breed black cosmos. As for blue roses, I bought a few of them from other people so I could start breeding them more easily. Honestly, I was starting to get frustrated trying to get the genepool right on those.

I had the opposite problem, I had black cosmos all over the shop, but could never manage blue roses! I cracked in the end and bought a pair off TBT last year. I hate black cosmos, they look so spidery, but I hope you manage to get one soon!!

I'm usually too lazy to hope the flowers I want show up in a tour, so I wait for them to appear in the shop. But I still agree, starting with a fresh pair usually helps. Sometimes I think they're just stubborn though. x3

I actually found them easier then blue roses xD
I got one from a friend and BAM! Spread like wild fire.
