In my second town, I'm slowly acquiring all my dreamies, but I need to get Pango out so I can make room for a dreamie that's currently in my cycling town. I tried the foolproof villager move out guide, but I can never remember what day my last villager moved in so it's kinda difficult. >.<

Any ideas?

I personally modified a method I saw suggested because as it was posted made me a little worried about falling off speaking terms with everyone so this is what I do (it's a lot of tt, just to prepare you)
This works best for me when I have a high friendship with whoever I want gone, so make sure to chat her up and do easy errands for her.

Wait til a day when someone pings you to move. If it's someone you want to keep then say no, finish your day, be sure to speak to EVERY villager, find them, in retail, the museum, the shops, just go say hi at least once, save and quit.

Tt ahead six days and go around to your villagers, someone will be planning to move, either you'll get a rumor or a ping. (You have to speak to a couple villagers a few times to make sure of a rumor) If it's a rumor and not the one you want to move make sure to give them a chance to ping so you can tell them to stay. Be sure to speak to the one you want to leave a couple times, and speak to everyone else at least once. Save and quit.

Tt another six days and again go round to everyone to check for rumors or pings. Repeat everything from above. if the villager you want gone wants to move and you get it by rumor you can save and tt 5 days and it will be their moving day, the day you get the rumor is the first day they're thinking of moving.

Basically, six days is the games limit to when someone will definitely want to move. You want to talk to everyone to make sure you stay on speaking terms so you'll hear rumors or get pinged, if you're not on speaking terms no one will tell you about them nor will they ping you.
You have to be careful when you tt forward to make sure you're changing the month when needed because you have to keep moving forward in time for this to work. And once she's out you can go back to real time with no ill effects as long as you tt back from the day she is in boxes.

You can sometimes jump pretty far ahead this way, but it's the best way I've found so far.

Good luck!

Two tricks:

1. You can simply talk to them once, and then ignore them, even when they ping. They'll move out even if you don't respond. This may or may not work, but if it does, it saves a lot of time. It's worked for some, including me, and it hasn't worked for others.

2. Bamdom method. See here for more details.

If you want to speed cycle through all of your villagers, and aren't averse to fiddling with your system date, there's a system I know that's worked pretty well for me. It's not particularly risky unless you're a careless sort of person.

It's essentially the same as fuzzynumber9's method, but using 2 weeks instead of 6 days. It should also work the same as 6 days, I think.

1. Start by making sure that no villagers are moving out. The easiest way to do this is to reject a moveout offer from a villager; once you do, no matter how far you time travel in the future, no other villager will move out.

2. Exit the game and go to your system settings. Set the date two weeks forward.

3. Load your game with your usual mayor. Isabelle will tell you that it's been a long while since she saw you.

4. Since you started from a 'no-moveout' state, all of your villagers will still be in town. HOWEVER one of them will be scheduled for moveout soon. This is the important part: Talk to everyone you see roaming in the town. This means every villager walking about outside of their house. This will get their "I haven't seen you in a while!" dialog out of the way.

Why only the villagers outside their houses? Because the moveout villager will be one of them. A villager who is set for a moveout will not stay inside their homes as the game wants them to ping you. Something like that.

5. Save and exit.

6. Reload your game. Walk around your town and wait for one of the villagers to ping you. Almost always, that villager will be the one who wants to move out. If it turns out that they just want you to change a catchphrase or give you a nickname, repeat step 5 and reload the game. Otherwise, depending on whether you want that villager to stay or not, give them the appropriate response.

7. Until the villager you want to move out pings you, keep repeating steps 1-6.

Scenario:

  • I want to kick out Stinky. I set the system clock 2 weeks forward after making sure that no villager will be moving out in that time period.
  • I talk to everyone in my town to get their "I miss you!" dialogs out of the way. Stinky is one of the people who is walking outside of their homes.
  • I reload the game, and carefully walk past every villager I see. Vesta pings me. It turns out she wants to leave the town!
  • I say 'no'' to her plans, then save and exit the game.
  • I set the system clock 2 weeks forward again. Since I just rejected Vesta, no one else will be moving out and I can safely load my mayor as usual.
  • I talk every villager walking outside, again. Then I reload the game and walk around for someone to ping me.
  • Stinky pings me! I say my farewells, then save and exit. I then go back to system settings and set back the date to normal.
  • I play the game as usual, with the happy knowledge that Stinky will be in boxes.

Some caveats:

* Sometimes no villager will ping. This can either mean that they're sick, or that for some unusual reason the game didn't trigger a moveout. If you're paranoid, you could always play with the system date again -- exit the game, set the system date to one month forward, then start the game with a new character. If you see a missing house, that means they will be the one moving out soon. Return your system date to normal and load your game with your usual character. You can then prevent that moveout if you wish.

* It's possible that you will travel months and years forward trying to get that one single villager out of your town. If you wish to return to your normal "time", you can set your system date back to your current date and load the game with no issues. Game-wise, this will just be the equivalent of TT'ing 1 day, even if the difference in system dates is weeks and weeks.

* Don't do this method for hours at a time. Make sure to take breaks and always keep a clear mind as you TT willy-nilly. I've lost a villager by being careless; but I've also successfully TT'ed out one single villager in a town full of dreamies so it's certainly possible. Just be careful, as with any other method.

As clarification, the method originally told to me was tell someone not to move, save, tt ahead 6 days then back 6 days and someone would be "guaranteed" to ping you that day. But since that counts as seven days I was worried the villagers would think you were ignoring them and end up not cooperating.
I'm also terrified of random move outs.
I've never had a random this way.

I did the talk to them once then ignore method before but honestly the two villagers I did it with still took a month or so to leave so I'm not sure it's all that certain or quick.

What I found, though, that even if you TT at some ungodly time intervals (I TTed 3 months forward a few weeks ago because my town was stuck in December) they'll still be friendly and make sure to notify you. But you would need to make sure to get their "I miss you" dialog beforehand or else nobody will ping.

I like traveling 2 weeks forward instead of back and forth, because that'd mean you'd only load the game once instead of twice. That lessens the risk that there'll be an accidental moveout.

It all comes down with how risk-averse you are. I never found the ignore method to work for me -- in my experience it's been purely a random numbers game. It's certainly less scary to do, though, so it fits the risk profile for a lot of people.
