Sorry, I know this has probably been asked 1000 times, but I thought I would ask anyway as many sources say different things. At the moment I am grinding fish from the tropical island, and that earns me maybe 40k bells a visit. However, is there a faster way to earn bells than this? Thanks.

I go bug farming on the island at around midnight. At midnight you get all the rare bugs sitting on trees so I can make around 300k a trip ^^ I've set my island up so I have 2 trees on the grass (for the rainbow stags) and around 12 on the sand for the horned hercules, golden stags etc. I put a lot of fruit and shells on the ground to stop random bug spawns (like wharf roaches) and to make them spawn mainly on the trees where they're worth the most money

I never use turnips, I find them to be a pain and I tt a lot so it would just be a waste of bells anyway

It's most likely the stalk market, but it's too much of a hassle to do expertly, seeing as the turnip prices are, admittedly, questionable. You're not guaranteed to get a profit.

My advised method would be to hunt beetles around 11pm. Like Optimus said, you can get around 200-300k per trip to the island (I usually get around 260k for 30 bugs), so as long as you're able to make multiple trips in a night, you'll be able to make a massive profit each night. Cut down every tree, excluding palm trees (hunting for rainbow stags isn't really worthwhile), and find a good point to enter the trees. I like to cut down the two at the bottom and alternate left and right from there to minimise the chance of scaring off a beetle. If you find any wharf roaches or tiger beetles, you can just swing your net to scare them.

bug catching on the island in the short term. it's pretty easy to get around a million in 1 night.
turnips in the long term, especially if you are active in animal crossing communities. someone is bound to have a high price each week. turnips are very time consuming to sell however so i'd only recommend it if you have a lot of time or really want that 100mil badge. also i'd suggest making an extra character to store turnips.

i think the best way is bug catching however, i havent tried turnips yet since I'm TTing in my game atm.

another way is watch for giveaways on the retail board. or sell things for TBT bells.

Bug catching is probably the most reliable, but the stalk market definitely has the potential for much bigger profit. I don't even sell turnips, but just from tips I've made letting people in to sell I've made quite a bit. I don't even know what kind of bells the sellers are making.

I have cut most of the trees down on my own Island, I have just left 1 fruit tree for scarabs, giant stags and about 4 palms, If I see another type of bug I scare it away, I got rid of all flowers, I have left my fruit in a basket to re plant at a later date. I go to bed quite early so I go on Island after 7pm and before 8am and I can easy get a basket full in less than an hour. I only fish for sharks or if I see a long thin shadow it's probibly a blue marlin or Napalean so worth catching them too. I have made a lot with turnips too. I have more than one character so if re-tail is closed I get them out too to fill their baskets. When you get back don't forget to empty basket into your pocket and then you can go back for another 16 even if shops are closed. Good luck.
P.S I actually planted my palms a bit further back so easier to catch bugs, I run down the middle of the grass area until I reach the sand and then walk slowly to the right or left and back around to run down the middle of the grass again.

I just farm beetles on the island. It's mind-numbingly boring when you're actually paying attention to it, so I usually make sure I'm watching something on TV and just kind of multi-task. That way it doesn't seem as bad and you can probably make several trips without getting bored.

At the beginning I used the island. Set it up like the online guides and had my town on Bell bloom.
Once the mayor got all the bugs from the island I made a 2nd player. She took over after the mayor was done playing.
She would go to the island 3 times a night and quickly collect the expensive bugs and sharks. Bell bloom gave me double items at premium and island bugs would be listed a lot. So I got double. Made over a million each visit.

Once I had a good bank account I moved on to turnips and perfect fruit. It helps to belong to a good group of friend that will share turnip and perfect fruit days. Friend on a different day would tell people that they had a high price for Sunday. They kept their game on that date so everyone could buy and than sale.

Selling turnips. It's a little boring but it's a lot more worth while.
I never used to consider the idea since I was afraid of losing profits but with such a large community it's never hard for me to find someone with high prices, even early on in the week.
I usually invest 2ish million in turnips for a full locker and in ~15-~20 minutes I can easily earn 10 million.

Definitely bug catching, but turnips if you have the patience or villager selling if you have a high-tier are also good.

I do bug catching, though I don't do it as often anymore, since I've switched here and sold a lot of items.

I use the island. Once it's dark I go and leave two palm trees on each side and keep walking back and forth to catch beetles, and if I see any sharks I catch those too. I usually get around 500k per visit if I fill up the box entirely but it gets a bit time consuming so after one trip I'm usually done.
