for a long time i've tried to gain a certain list of villagers with designs i find appealing but time and time again i'm disappointed when, even past their routine Getting To Know You phase of personality-controlled small-talk, i just genuinely do not like them. so, not taking into account their physical design or anything [and also going beyond like the small repetitive phrases each personality says when you're first making acquaintances with them] which villager have you found to have the best personality?
despite them both being popular for design reasons to begin with, i genuinely feel like lucky and chief are some of the sweetest villagers i've had. i had them both in my first town when i initially got the game, and it was the first in the animal crossing franchise i had ever played, so there was absolutely no outside influence on which characters i liked and disliked. i don't recall ever realizing that chief was even a cranky villager? lol
another kind and very under rated villager from that same town would have to be frobert. small jock villagers re just the cutest, and frobert and i made fast friends.
what villagers do you think have the best personalities and why?

Baabara was the sweetest snooty I have ever met. She was never rude to me like most snooties.

Hmm... I'm thinking probably Kid Cat. Honestly, he acts nothing like a jock for me.

I had Tank, and he was your stereotypical jock. Always talking about muscles and such.

Kid Cat just... doesn't. I mean, he will sometimes. But he's always yabbering about the wresting match on TV and how he wants his face on a potato chip bag. lol

For me, Ankha! I know she's tier one but she was one of my originals. We've hit it off really well, and she's given me her picture twice. I love her and she will never move on my watch!

Willow was a very nice snooty, Spork was really cool, I loved Mira and Vesta, Coco grew on me, Papi is nice, Pudge and Stiches are great friends, Bam is a cool jock, Jacques and Pietro and pretty cool smugs, Flora and I are twins :D, Roscoe is great, and pretty much anything that isn't Cherry the demon spawn is alright. Also, rabbits. They're all great. (except for Bonbon who is slightly less great)

I love the cranky and lazy personalities. I like the lazy because it would probably be my personality type if I was in the game, they love their food and are happy to just chill. Cranky is also the best because as you get to know them you can see their softer side come out and not be so angry anymore.

Wolfgang! He's been my favorite since the original game first came to the United States. He starts off mean and rude, but if you take the time to get to know him, he became very friendly and even a bit protective of you. Like a big brother.

I actually don't like him as much in acnl because he starts off friendly. Takes away some of the charm.

Carmen, Merry, Grizzly and Octavian :) They are the heart and soul of AC for me. If I am pinned down to one, then Carmen. There is a joy and a mania about her that makes me so happy that each and everytime I see her and talk to her, I can't stop smiling :)

Drift is my best jock ever, somewhat different from any other jocks I've had. he's not rude and annoyingly competitive compares to other jocks, he loves to randomly ping me just to say that my calves is in a good shape and then gave me a gift :p

I like it when the villager's dialogue matches their appearance, or the disparity between the dialogue and appearance is funny. For example, having a scrawny or clearly out of shape character go on and on about he works out all the time, so you can't help but feel he's lying about it. Or having a snooty villager who actually looks middle-aged talking about the young-uns and drinking her prune juice is cuter than, say, having a really cute young-looking villager say it. (Which is why I miss Maelle sometimes)

In the end, its really how you yourself interpret what the characters are saying to you. Letting yourself create those stories of why they're saying what they're saying is pretty important for developing a bond with a villager, I think. How else would you get attached?

I find Nate to be very sweet, I think it’s cute when he starts panicking for no real reason. I also have Boomer who has the same lazy personality but I just don’t find him as adorable as Nate.

Lolly has always been the best to me. She was the first villager I've ever met and talked to (in my old town she was one of my starter villagers) and she was so sweet and kind to me.
