Best scorpion catching techniques?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hold the net with the A button and slowly walk towards the scorpion. When it raises its claws at you, stop moving but continue holding A. When it lowers its claws, continue moving towards it and once you're close enough, just release the A button. Once you get really good at it you'll realize you actually have a few more seconds to walk towards it when its claws are raised. Good luck!

Yeah, there is really only one proper way to avoid being stung, and it's the creeping method. And if you are on the scorpion island, and there are two or three of them at the same time...well...you're just gonna get stung anyway...so, make it count. Lol.

I used to just outrun it, pivot, and catch it as it approached me. Takes good timing, but this was my method before sneaking while holding A.

I play red light, green light with them. I take a few steps, stop when they rear up, take a few steps when they relax, stop when they rear up, and so on until I'm close enough to catch them.

I do this too when they've already got the jump on me.

im 99.9% sure u dont have to do the red light, green light thing of when it raises it's lil hands. u can just keep walking at it whether its raising them or not. ive seen a streamer do it and ive done it myself with the tarantulas. ive yet to try it on a scorpion (just got back into the game), but i imagine it'll be the same.

I've tested this out myself before and they've always jumped up and charged at me if I took too many steps while they were in defensive mode. I think it might have to do with how close you get, though.

yea it's how close u are. plus r u walking to them with ur net charged up? i imagine u probably already are, but if ur not then it's easier to control ur steps. i try to walk up to the tarantula (ig scorpion now) until theyre about tree bug catching distance if that makes sense? ur angle may also prevent u from properly assessing how close u r to them, but thats rly hard to worry about when u have a murderous being right in front of u. maybe u could slowly adjust ur angle by going to the left or right if that's a problem.

Yep, I know to have my net at the ready. I'll have to test the distance thing the next time I see a scorpion.

I made an H-shaped section of holes to lure the scorpion into and jump to the other side for safety. I saw someone do it (and other variations) in a video once.

When I see one, I freeze, then sneak up from there, but not for too long at a time as you go towards them (takes a bit of experimentation to see how much time before they just attack). I don't know if that helps lol! Happy hunting!

I found bamboo island the best because there aren't any ponds, cliffs, rivers or bugs.
Once you've cleared it of bamboo and gotten rids of the palm trees.. eat the coconuts to smash the rocks and scorpions will spawn.

I had loads of trouble with them not spawning, or spawning in awkward areas on my island, and I thought I'd never catch one, so I bought some NMT's and got bamboo island.

Now that I've caught one.. they spawn on my island all the time. :)

They no longer blindly attack when you have a net, as long as you creep slowly towards them.

The foolproof method I've utilized is to inch close to the scorpion very slowly, then when it becomes alert and assumes its threatening stance, I turn my character around until the scorpion is no longer aggressive. I then repeat this process as many times as necessary until my net is within reach and capture them. There might be better, perhaps somewhat faster methods, but this always works for me.

the hole method. Dig enough holes where you at least have a space to jump in. Then try and find a scorpion and make it chase you. This is where your safe haven comes in, which are the wholes you dug. Since you jumped over it the scropion can't get you and it'll go crazy in a circle but remain trapped between the two holes you dug.
Edit: Forgot to add that this is usually done on scorpion islands or mystery islands like bamboo.
But for the ones on your island just do what the others said holding a with your net when approaching a scorpion.

You let out a mighty warcall and rush them.
I do the sneak walk and stop when they do the pincher jazz hands at me, and then move forward, etc etc.
