Best Friend Villagers Getting Annoying?

Okay so I think I may have a problem. You see I have 4 villagers and all of them are best friends because they have given me all their photos and they like me so much but I think after like 4 months I'm starting to get annoyed when they always keep bugging me about stuff when they call my name. Things like wanting me trying to change my nickname when I told them no so many times and of course the most annoying giving/sending me clothes that I didn't ask for and I find myself having throw them away. It just comes off as annoying when I've seen them ask me this so many times

So I've been thinking about this and I'm thinking about moving out some villagers. Now make no mistake I don't dislike them or anything but this constant giving clothes and always bothering me whenever I'm trying to do my thing and all of a sudden they call your name forcing to give me clothes when it does nothing but affect my inventory when I'm trying to fix up my island or doing other stuff. For those wondering who they are they're Marina, Raymond, Judy, and Skye. They have been with me for a really long time.

My Question is should I let one or some of them leave? I know I gotten their photos already so I don't have left to do with them but they are my dreamies and I never want to let them go. I am very conflicted. I need some help.

I don't think they're annoying you. What I think the problem is...

Is the fact you've no longer got any 'attachment' to them. You got their picture (your goal), and now you care less about them as you've got your 'goal' from them.

If you truly like them, you'll miss them...and getting two of them back would be a chore.

hmm maybe thats the issue. I've gotten their photos but then its like now what? I am not sure now.

Yeah thats the problem. I would not want to go back to nook mile hunting since it is tiresome.

I agree with Khaelis, that you just lost your attachment to them. If you time travel, you can try setting your game to be like 4am where most of the villagers are asleep so they don't run up to you. Or you can set the game down for a few days and see if you are still attatch to the villagers and if you want to let them go. Have you tried giving them gifts to make them a little more personal to you? You can preview the clothing on them at Harv's so you don't accidently give them something that doesn't look good.

You could take a ton of screenshots so you have memories of them if you let them go and you miss them. Also more photoshoot opportunities at Harv's.

I'm also collecting villagers photos and I got Apollo's back in the early summer and I just let him go about a week ago because I got bored. I had given him a small backstory and gave him gifts but he just stopped appealing to me after a while. I'm about to let Raymond go because he doesn't have a backstory, I couldn't find a good one to give him and I'm tired of his house.

Yeah, as Sharksheep dipped into a ton of people let their villagers go as soon as they get their photos. It’s not photo farming, it just people trying to meet new villagers and switch it up a bit.

I tried doing that and its cool for a week but it just gets tiring seeing the same villagers. I don't know right now. I mean I could try harvs island like you mention but I already gotten their posters so its not like I forget about them. I put them in my basement to help me remember the villagers I used to have before.

I think the play style of getting villager pictures and replacing them with fresh faces to get new goals (pictures) to work towards would best suit you.

And there's the chance you may find a villager you do get attached to!

I get what you mean but then its like if I keep this villager for too long then I will grow tired of them in the future. I know I should not do this but if I want to see fresh new villagers then I have to let some go. Of course I don't want to do that but I feel like I should. Ugh so hard to decide!

Well I had villagers I thought would stay around for a lot longer but it turns out that I really like them that much and they are fairly popular villagers too like Goldie, Coco, Merengue, Maple, and Fauna. (Can you tell I don't really like normals?) Once I had them and interacted with them, I just didn't connect with them. But I had villagers I really liked and did let them go in the off chance I might like someone more. Some villagers I'm heavily considering inviting back are Lily, Fang, Roscoe, Reneigh, and Tangy because other villagers of the same personalities just didn't connect with me as much as these 3.

Oh yeah I made the same mistake way back in May 2020 when I had too many normal villagers like 7 of the time. They were Molly, Fauna, Daisy, Merengue, Skye, Lolly, and Marina. I let most of them move out but I kept Marna since she was so adorable and I could not let her go. I tried to give myself different personality villagers but turns out there are some I don't like. I don't like Jocks because of them always talking about their workouts and muscles. I also don't like Lazy villagers because of them always talking about bugs and food. Plus whenever I have them on my Island I see them running all over my island and it does bother me most of the time.

I have a villager that is still living on my island since March 30th, Sterling specifically. Here's the very first photo I took of him when I found him while island hopping.

He's my all-time favorite villager, along with Rolf. And I never plan on letting him go, despite his repetitive dialogue and favors. I still give him presents even after obtaining his photo on May 24th.

Honestly, after reading your post, I kinda feel that you don't really have that sort of attachment with them.

I had several villager who I initially thought to be my dreamies. I had them in my island for a while but I didn't had the same excitement that I had hoped when interacting with them. If you somehow feel these villagers are no longer as special as you think they are, then I guess it wouldn't be bad to let them go.

it seems like some of your indecision/worry is coming from the fact that you feel like there is a certain way you ‘should’ feel about these villagers. There’s nothing wrong with getting tired even of villagers you like/ love and letting them go so you can meet new villagers. It doesn’t reflect in any way on you. Some people get super attached to a certain set of villagers and never ever want to change them, some people like to always be cycling through. Most people are probably somewhere in between. There’s no wrong way!

there is a chance that you will regret letting a villager go, which is a bummer. For me, I always feel sad when a villager is packing up to go, even when I have been hoping for them to ask to leave for weeks. But nothing is set in stone. Even Raymond, though it might be more difficult, you can get again in the future if you do miss him, especially if you intend to play for a long time.

I would say, no need to act rashly and move someone out tomorrow, but there really is nothing bad or wrong about letting your villagers move away.

and as @Sharksheep said, you may be surprised and get attached to a villager you didn’t expect to be a favorite. This happened to me - I love love loved kabuki and then...I just didn’t click with him for some reason. I decided if I didn’t like him I probably wouldn’t like any cranky. Then I invited Ike basically on a whim from the campsite. And I love him to bits. I had never considered him before, but for whatever reason, I’ve really become attached to him. I still may end up letting him move away someday, but it was really great discovering a new favorite this way.

Personally, when I notice that I seek out a villager less and less often, I start considering letting them move away. And even when I am really sad to see them go, I also love love love island hopping and finding a new friendly face for my island.

good luck!

I'll have to think about it. I get what you're saying from most people so I will have to decide for myself what I think is the right thing to do.

I’m kind of the same way. I don’t get annoyed at them, but I get bored of my villagers after getting their photo. I still like them though and I’m not ready to let them leave. I recently moved out 4 villagers so now I have more photos to work towards. I want to try to get as many photos as I can, but there’s a few villagers who I will never let go.

Wanted to add my input in.

I don’t believe them running up to talk to you is an issue. Usually if they ask me to change their catchphrase/take something from me, it’s usually just a deny request and move on. Then probably talk to them later and gift them since it’ll probably have added a negative effect to them.

I think a lot of people have said it but you’ve just lost your attachment to them and it might be time to shake up who’s in your village.
I had Clay (after failing to find Raymond or Cube) move into my village and I liked him at first. I then after a while, started to just find him bleh? I had 3 lazy villagers already and he just didn’t stand out for me. He asked to leave today and honestly, I’m glad. Not because I hated him, but for a change. To have someone new move in and see how they gel and that.

It’s all about cycling mostly. Meeting new people 😅

Okay well after doing much thinking I decided to let Skye go. She really was wearing on me so I just open myself to getting new villagers now. Thank you all for the feedback!
