I'm seriously broke but I need suggestions for decent, cheap makeup.

The only thing I know of is my fave mascara, Covergirl last blast. It takes like 0 effort and it makes my lashes almost as long as falsies so it's gr8.

I've never tried E.L.F. but some people like it. I really liked the mascara I had from Wet n Wild, I still use some of their eyeliner. And I use Sonia Kushuk eyeliner as well. And I agree with Oath, NYX is a really good drugstore brand.

And the brands I've named don't test on animals :-)

i know you are probably from the US but just in case my faves are for sure boujois and soap & glory.

but i really like revlon too

have u tried just smearing a peach all over ur face

Some of my friends have mentioned e.l.f. can be very dry.

yeah it really depends on the product with elf . i have a lip tint that is really drying so i always have to have a chapstick or something on top , but the baked highlighter works perfectly fine . it's kind of a hit or miss with them

also wanted to mention colourpop , not from a drugstore but the same price range , shipping is only $5 , they're cruelty free , and i've loved everything i've tried . plus if you give them your email they give you $5 off your first order so basically free shipping .

I just bought a pencil eyeliner from Target today, the brand is Shea Moisture. It didn't smudge and even after running with the dog it stayed on. I am pretty impressed! It's 8 bucks too!

I don't wear makeup but my friends always talk about e.l.f. but I agree that it seems to be a hit or miss with that company

I mean, as a rule have a good moisturizer and chapstick on under any product. Skin care is first priority, cosmetics are the second pass.

Maybelline and Cover Girl have decent foundation and concealers; Maybelline specifically has great cc creams. I like L'Oreal's setting spray and NYX's lip products + blushes are bomb af. PS: Be weary of NYX's liquid eyeliners, they dry out super quick.

Hm, I've only tried a few e.l.f brushes, their lip scrub and one of the bronzer compacts. The brushes can be a hit or miss for me, but I remember liking the bronzer when I had it. The lip scrub was really nice, I have mega dry lips ALL the time so this was a really great product for me- just wished they had more product.

I juggle between Neutrogena, L'Oreal, and Revlon for face products- mostly because when they update the look of a product I'm using, they often times change something in the formula which upsets my skin- currently using L'Oreal's trumatch foundation. However, I do use the Maybelline Fit Me concealer instead of foundation during my rush days. I've also used Revlon's Naked foundation before and really loved it.

I haven't found any mascaras at the American drug stores that work with my straight short down pointing eyelashes but I am hoping to get my hands on an Innisfree (Korean brand) one as well as one or two Japanese branded ones- I think one is called Kiss Me Heroine Masacara. For eyeliner I have to use liquid or a really good gel liner. I remember liking the Wet n Wild gel liner which was super cheap if I remember correctly (I'm currently using a Japanese brand, DollyWink Liquid Eyeliner [not sure what category the DollyWink eyeliner would fall under, but you can buy it between $12-$18 online and about $18 in stores from what I've seen] which I love and will continue to repurchase).

For lips, most of my lip products are either from L'Oreal, Revlon, or Wet n Wild. CVS and Walgreens always have great deals on these from time to time- sometimes ULTA has great deals on them too. At around two dollars a pop, the lipstick from Wet n Wild isn't too shabby. I mostly use the L'Oreal Color Riche Lip which can be anywhere from $6 - $9 depending on the store and the sales that week. I have been thinking of picking up some colourpop matte lip products, they seem to fare well with reviews and for $5, they are relatively inexpensive.

For eye shadows, I can't contribute to anything. All my eye shadows come from a high end brand- Urban Decay (love the Naked palettes 1&2) and Bobbi Brown. I also don't wear eye shadow much anymore (only wore it when I was 19 - 22).

as users stated above, elf is somewhat hit or miss. I did like their mascara though the last time i bought it, and it's quite nice to use for beginners in makeup. I also love the wet n' wild eyeliners, and most of maybellines products aren't too expensive and are pretty high quality. Except i can only really speak for their eyeliners and mascara since those are the only things I really buy (?Д` )
